  • Continental Road Attack tyres on a Honda CBR1100XX

I had some excellent feedback from the owner of the Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird who's bike I put some Continental Road Attack tyres on last month. This was the bike that had totally inappropriate tyres fitted to it and we replaced them with the Continentals. The rider is very impressed with how stable the bike now holds the road and his confidence is restored in how well the Blackbird handles around corners. The rider was very keen to tell me about the damage to the lower fairing on the bike. This wasn't cause by the owner dropping the bike. It was done while the bike was banked over at around 120kph at the bend where the Westgate freeway and the Bolty Bridge meet. If you've ever been around this bend you'll know that to try and get a Honda Blackbird around there at 120kph would require a heap of confidence and a set of very grippy tyres. Click on the picture of the fairing for a closer look.

Continental tyres are listed in our Ebay store: http://stores.shop.ebay.com.au/Everything-Two-Wheels__W0QQ_armrsZ1

  • Honda's everywhere!

I can't believe how many Honda's are coming through the shop lately. Over the past couple of weeks I've seen CBR1000RR Fireblade, VTR1000F Firestorm, CBR900RR Fireblade, CBR1100XX Blackbird, CBR600RR, CBR125, VTR250, @125, Lead 100, CBR250RR.......the list goes on. It makes me feel like I'm working back at Honda Australia again. I think some of this influx of Honda motorcycles is down to the demise of Redwing Honda. When I heard the news that this dealership was closing down I was very surprised and it just goes to show how hard the economic crisis has hit the motorcycle industry with this prominent Melbourne dealer deciding to close the doors. But the closure has also meant that Honda owners in the northern suburbs have lost there local dealer for servicing and I think this is why we are seeing so many Honda's coming through the doors. I think another reason for the increase is the quality of the workmanship and the competitive pricing that Everything Two Wheels offers compared to the big chain stores. If your looking for a new workshop to get your Honda serviced give us a call. I'm sure we can be of service.

  • Suzuki GSXR750 & the "hi flow" filter

It's been a busy time at Everything Two Wheels. Bike riders are coming out of winter hibernation in droves and wanting their bikes sorted for the summer. This Suzuki GSXR750 was here for a 24k service. The owner having just bought the bike wanted everything done to it for piece of mind. I went to work on pulling this one apart. While the oil was draining I started removing the air box to get to the rocker cover so I could check the valve clearances and while removing it I found one of my pet hates. A "hi flow" air filter. I personally think these filters are crap. Although these filters can increase the horsepower of an engine in a race bike I think there use in street bikes isn't justified by the amount of dirt they let into the engine. If you hold a genuine Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki or Yamaha filter next to any of the "hi flow" brands you'll see why there not very good at keeping the dirt out. With the genuine manufacturer items you can't see any daylight through them. Look through a "hi flow" filter and you'll understand why so much dirt passes through. The picture of the inside of the throttle bodies tells its own story. If this bike had run a standard filter none of that dirt would be there. As for the rest of the service it all went to plan. And as for the "hi flow" filter. It went in the bin and was replaced with a genuine Suzuki item.

  • Tyres from Michelin Continental Pirelli & Bridgestone

Spring is well and truly here and with it has come the flurry of riders preparing their bikes for the summer season of riding. Over the past 2 weeks I've sold more tyres than I've sold over the winter months. We've seen guys with CBR VFR GSXR plus a few Yamaha's come through the shop and all these riders have gone for different brands. Michelin Pilot Powers and Road 2, Continental Road Attack & Pirelli Supercorsa are a few of the tyres we've sold over the past few weeks. I've also started up an Ebay tyre store to help customers out when deciding what to buy (click the link below). The store contains the latest prices and sizes available from Everything Two Wheels. Alternatively ring the shop on 03 9077 7312 and we'll give you as much help and advice as we can to make sure you pick the right tyre for your bike.
