• In search of new corners.....

  Hi everyone…Its been a busy week for Anthony…he’s moved down to Yamba during the week, and on Saturday we rode down so I would be here….because there wasn’t room for me on the Ute or trailer. So at 6:30am last Saturday we set off.  An early morning storm finished about 6:00am, so we thought that 30 minutes later would be a good time to leave….and then about 10 minutes down the road the rain started again, and it bucketed down for a a long time, and kept going until we were about 5km out of Yamba.  It was the longest wet trip we’ve ever had to do, but we survived and it’s all good! So yesterday was the first day that Anthony had that didn’t require moving furniture, lifting boxes, cleaning, and all those other things involved in moving house, so in the afternoon we went out for a ride…and at first we had no idea where to go.  So we headed out of town and turned off Yamba road onto Middle Road at Palmers Island…and Middle Road is nothing but a big long straight piece of road…perfect for going fast!    On the following photo, Middle Road starts at point A and goes to point B….. And then at the end of the straight we turned onto North Bank Road which was an amazing piece of road filled with nothing but long sweeping corners…after the long straight it was heaven!!! After that we turned back onto Yamba Road and headed to Maclean (where Anthony will be working for some of the week) and then back down Yamba road…and we just had to turn off onto North Bank Road and do the trip in the reverse direction (and apologies to the old couple who were fishing on the river…sorry to disturb your afternoon…. It was a great afternoon out…the first of many.    And so we start next week with yours truly as the transportation solution of choice…. and I can’t wait!! • Its soon time to move.....

  Today’s ride was probably one of the last that we’d get to do before we make the move down south.  Anthony and I will be moving soon to be with Scooter Girl, and will be looking forward to new scootering adventures, as well as new roads to discover, with new corners to ride on. In addition to finding new places to ride, I’ll also be Anthony’s daily commuter-scooter, which will also be good fun.  Getting the chance to get out each day is going to be great. There are no photos from today’s ride, we just went out and enjoyed the road.  It wasn’t a long ride, but it was great fun.  We did the Cudgen, Tumbulgum, and Terranora run and enjoyed every piece of road like it was the first time we’d ridden on it.  So over the coming weeks we’ll be making to move from Kingscliff.  The blog will continue, but with new stories and new places to discover…so until next time, have fun, scoot safely and we’ll see you out there… cheers, Derbi. • Early Saturday morning ride

  Last Saturday morning we headed out for an early morning ride, following one of our usual routes........up over the hill from home, along Cudgen Road, down to Tweed Valley Way and south to Tumbulgum, and along the way we stopped to take this photo... For those of you who you have been in this area before, you'll recognise Mt Warning in the middle of the photo on the horizon. And then after we got to Tumbulgum and headed over the bridge we stopped for this shot...once again with Mt Warning in the background. And so after heading over the bridge we did the run up the hill to Terranora, (which is always good fun) and then after reaching the highway, turned right and headed back towards Kingscliff, but instead of taking the exit over the river.....we headed down the highway to the Cudgen Road turnoff, and then did the 1.5km twisty run back up the hill.....which was just as much fun as coming down.... There will be lots of new roads to discover in the near future, and both Scooter Boy and Scooter Girl are looking forward to that! See you all out there, cheers, Derbi. • Lets go again.....

  After hanging out with the kids today, Anthony and I headed out for another ride.  This time we decided to do the Cudgen Road run, then down the highway to Condong, then up over Clothiers Creek Road....but instead of heading over the hill to Cabarita Beach, we took the left turn onto Farrants Hill Road, heading along the top of the ridge that separates the cane fields north of Murwillumbah and the beach on the other side..... Its been a while since Anthony had been that way (i've never been on that road) so we took it a bit easy as it was narrow, with lots of tight corners.....(which is why anything longer than 9 meters isn't allowed on the road) Here's what it looks like from the air.... Here's what the start of it looks like at ground level.... Here are some of the views from the top of the hill.... And here is some more of the road.... This view of the corner was typical for most of the road....you turn in, but have no idea what's around the bend.... • I think I have OBCD

  Yep, Obsessive Blogging Compulsive Disorder........just thought I'd share today's ride with you all.  It had been a long day and so we started off with a trip down the highway from Kingscliff, heading south till we got to the Tropical Fruit World turnoff, then headed up the hill (1.5 km of twisties....) When we reached the top, we took the turn to the right, heading out along Duranbah Road and anyone who's been that way will remember the section where the road is enclosed in a tunnel of trees and looks something like this......(thanks Google Maps) And then after a while the road keeps going across the top of the ridge until you get to a junction where we took the Murwillumbah exit along Eviron Road....which begins with this sign.... Twistie bits for 4km!!!  Ooooh Baby..... And it was a road that I've never ridden on before, and it was so much fun! This down-hill right hander was great fun.... Here i am hanging out on the side of the road once we got down off the hill And here's what I was looking at.... After turning off Eviron Road we went down the highway to Murwillumbah, then headed back through Tumbulgum and Terranora. Here I am hanging out at Sunnycrest Drive. What the?....scooter boy trying to be artistic. And finally, here's a shot looking across the River when we were back in Kingscliff.....
