Piaggio BV350 SportTouring

Our first taste of Piaggio's all new 350 class engine. Piaggio Australia has started the ADR process on this highly anticipated model.

Piaggio BV350 SportTouring

Word is that Piaggio Australia have started the process to have the BV350 land on Australian shores during 2013. The BV350 SportTouring has been an instant success story in Italy, slotting into the top 10 best selling scooter list for 2012. The highlight of the package is the development of a new 350 class engine. The all-new engine features 4-valves, liquid cooling and dry sump lubrication.

The BV350 SportTouring will be setting new standards. The engine itself was designed to offer 400cc levels of performance with the efficiency of a 300 class scooter. By all accounts, the initial reviews suggest it does this and more. Power is specified at 24.5 Kw (8250 rpm) and 32.2 Nm of torque (6250 rpm). In comparison, the current 400cc Master engine outputs 24 Kw's and a fraction more torque(37Nm).

The addition of ABS brakes and traction control would be welcome, though this is an optional extra in Europe and not offered in the USA. Still, the BV in any format would be a commuters dream. Big wheels, heaps of storage and great power. Service intervals at 10,000 km's would be another bonus.

We will obviously publish more when we know the BV has gone through Australia's strict ADR process. Pricing, colours, options etc etc, are all still unknown. It's early days.

I think the unsung part of this scooter is the fact it will do over 400km on a single tank...
