  • Honda PCX 125 Launch

Before our big review we give a few first impressions.

    Allen Drysdale

I get asked all the time, Just what is a commuter scooter? Well really it could be any type of scooter that gets you from point A to point B. Any scooter that gets you to and from work maybe?. Really it could be as little as 50 cc in capacity right up to 650 cc. A commuter could be any number of two wheeled incarnations. Though for me a commuter scooter is one that you generally use for your everyday transport, has good power to travel a varying array of speeds and has a number of handy features like ample storage etc. As well it must be good value for money.

It was an exciting thing being invited to the launch of Honda's all new PCX 125. For me the PCX is Honda's first real foray into what is for me the "commuter scooter" market. Now you might say well Honda already have the SH 150 or the Honda Lead, but for me the PCX offers everything a good commuter stands for at a value for money price.

In our short ride we were able to get a pretty comprehensive impression of this all new scooter from Honda. Manufactured in Taiwan the PCX 125 will be sold throughout the world, it represents Honda's vision for the future. Its clean and green, its fast and it represents great value for money. So we at Scootersales think it ticks a few boxes. Now we will have a more comprehensive review coming but for now initial impressions count.

So first of all lets talk about the style. I like the family resemblance in the headlight, the curves of the body from front to back. At first glance you may think its a cruiser but next glance and the PCX becomes a compact commuter. From front-on the PCX may give the impression that its allot larger then it actually is. It isn't...

Actually once on the PCX its quite thin and with the weight being only 124 Kg the PCX combines the use of large wheels and short wheelbase to enhance the feel on the road. The PCX has a minimal turning circle of just 1.98 metres. Actually the PCX on the road felt extremely well balanced, sporty even. I think this is due to a few things but the prize must go to wheel size, frame design, wheelbase and suspension all working well in harmony.

Now lets just list a few initial things I really liked about the all new PCX. First up the motor. Its a corker putting out a very workable 8.33 Kw's of power. Its smooth, fluid and oh so Honda quite, liquid cooled as well. Fuel Injected of course and featuring Honda's all new stop/start technology. Come to a stop and the engine cuts out, twist the throttle and you have immediate go forward. Its impressive and contributes to Honda claiming 46 km/l fuel usage. By the way you have a switch to turn this feature on and off, a light to tell you the feature is engaged. To me the PCX felt more then capable of 100 km/h speeds.

And the tricks just keep on coming. Honda have removed the starter motor and replaced it with a device that they term Brushless ACG. This means that the crankshaft has an alternator/starting system directly connected to it. The system regenerates power in the battery when the scooter is running and starts the scooter in a seamless quite fashion. This starting system also saves an incredible amount of weight over your standard starter motor systems.

You will find an electronic switch up front to open fuel and seat, so no fuss at filling the fuel tank or opening the seat, all scooters should come with this. Under the seat you will fit a full face helmet and a little bit more with ease, a helmet hook has also been fitted. The ignition also has the added bonus of a fob lock, an alarm is available as an accessory. Whilst up front the bars would have to be a stand out feature, chrome and exposed they look amazing. A glovebox resides up front.

Other nice features include a two tier seat that's very comfortable. Flip out footpegs are top quality, and wont make you shy away from carrying a passenger. Twin non adjustable shocks up back help with compliance and suited my 85 Kg weight well.

A side stand and centre stand comes standard. Twin Halogen headlights help with being able to see at night. 5 spoke 14 inch alloy wheels look trick.

Last of all the PCX 125 has an accessory and customisation list as long as your arm and its all well within reach dollar wise. Take a look at my ride for the launch day. Came with a sticker kit and custom running boards that looked individual. The list just goes on and on, so have a look at the picture below just for a guide. Coloured exhaust shields, carbon and woodgrain panels, bar ends, scuff protectors, locks and a heap of other stuff.

So what's missing? Clock on the comprehensive dash. And maybe adjustment on the rear suspension (how many times have you adjusted the suspension lately?). Oh and also the PCX has a rear drum brake, but the Honda combined braking system works a treat. No biggy.

All up a very very nice effort from Honda. Like I said initially, an extensive review will be warranted on delivery of our test unit. Till then I reckon Honda may just have a winner. With an MLP of $3990 the Honda has enough tricks and features to be a real day to day machine of convenience. Everything points to hassle free, efficient scootering.

Honda Australia will be giving the PCX 125 every chance of success with national advertising through various media including TV. There is even a PCX 125 micro site, check it out at www.hondapcx.com.au and go into the draw to win 1 of 5 Honda PCX 125's.

Stock should be at your nearest Honda dealer this week.

  • Aprilia Sportcity One 125 Review

Aprilia applies the make-up and the Sportcity One 125 is ready for the catwalk. New colours help complete the picture.

    Allen Drysdale

    Introduction

The Sportcity has always been a resounding favourite of mine. No matter what capacity, the Sportcity family has a real dynamic set of genes. Large wheels and a short wheelbase probably account for most of the pleasure, though its sporty good looks also help. So now we see that Aprilia have given the Sportcity One a little make over. Worth revisiting an old favourite? We think so.....

    Features

We first ran across this latest incarnation of the Sportcity One at the Eicma 2009 show in Milan. The model presented on the stand was the Kermit green variety, and boy did it stand out.

Aprilia have performed an array of subtle changes, though in my eyes it looks like a major improvement.

First up three new colours, a Pearl White, Aprilia Racing Black and lets just say a "Bright Green". Which I have to admit grew on me immensely over time. The new colours are only enhanced through the use of a large Aprilia logo running underneath the floor of the scooter.

A lick of gloss black paint has been used in a few major visual areas. Front forks have been given the touch and the wheels are the major stand out feature for me. They really smarten things up. The heat shield on the exhaust along with the rear number plate frame also get the gloss black treatment. Subtle yes, though for me these group of subtle changes make for a major enhancement.

Other small differences include new graphics on the dash along with a red stitched seat. Our test scooter looked the goods, a real head turner that changed in various light conditions. A different personality from day to night was really apparent, Ive never felt safer riding at night!

Apart from the above changes the rest is all the Sportcity One we've come to know and love. The One comes with 14 inch wheels front and rear. Has a derivative of the renowned Piaggio 125 cc leader engine pumping out an honest 7 Kw of power, yet feels like more.

Other key features include a handy flat floor along with an underseat storage area that will take a full face helmet. Rear suspension is an adjustable single shock on the rear. Brakes are disc on the front accompanied by a rear drum. Mirrors are out wide and large, some of the best around.

    On The Road

On the road the Sportcity One follows on with the family theme by offering a dynamic sporty ride. We put around 1000 Km's on our test scooter giving us a great indication of what was to come from the 125 cc machine. An increase in kilometres equals a substantial increase in performance. When it comes to the budget range of 125 cc scooters the Aprilia would be "up there" when it comes to top speed and mid range performance. Not the quickest off the line but the Sportcity more then makes up for it when things get rolling.

The 14 Inch wheels only reassured me that big wheels on a scooter do help with handling. Whilst the single rear shock absorber was more then sufficient in keeping up with the suspension duties, especially for my 85 Kg weight. All in all handling dynamics are the highlight when it comes to the Sportcity One.

As a daily commuter the Sportcity One performed admirably. More then enough performance to keep up and ahead of traffic. Thin enough to negotiate your way through the tightest of spaces and light and agile enough, its just so easy to handle. Add the positives of a flat floor and the convenience of enough space under the seat to lock your helmet away and all up, life's good on a Sportcity One. So being sporty doesn't have to mean losing any of the day to day convenience that makes us love scooters. The Sportcity One 125 gives you the best of both worlds.

    Summary

So in introducing this trio of new colours, Aprilia have given us the excuse to get reacquainted with our long time favourite, the Sportcity One 125. I have to say the subtle changes make a huge improvement for me. The use of gloss black on key components along with the Aprilia logo emblazoned under the floor board, style is something the Italians do well.

The Sportcity One 125 has a fair deal going for it. A real winner as a daily commuter, it offers a fair chunk in terms of scooter for your money. Aprilia Australia have also been offering a top box and rack for a $2990 list price, which adds even more to the value to the equation. For the introduction of the new colours the offer remains unchanged.

So a real winner when it comes to style, overall performance and everyday usability. The Aprilia Sportcity One 125 still a favourite in every sense, now even more so.

    • One winner was from Eltham in Victoria, and the other from Brisbane.

10 August 2010 - It may have been HART Somerton's birthday celebration, but two lucky students were the ones who got the biggest present of all.

HART gave away brand new Honda VTR250s to Ryan Dalton of Brisbane and Stephen Standley of Eltham, Victoria who both completed courses during April, May or June 2010.

Ryan - a 21 year old Air-Conditioning Mechanic from Brisbane - participated in both the 1 and 2 day Training and Assessment Courses.

"My first day at HART was the first time I had ridden a motorbike. I wanted to learn because it seemed like a fun, efficient way of travelling," Ryan said.

"The course was practical and catered for my needs and the instructors where pleasant, helpful and explained everything clearly."

"To be honest, when I first got the phone call to say I'd won the VTR, I thought someone was playing a joke on me! I would like to thank HART for the bike and for the training. It was a pleasure to be able to get my licence through them, and the trainers and facilities were fantastic."

Stephen Standley, a 51 year-old Project Engineer, completed a Learner Permit and Licence course at Somerton in Melbourne's north after having competed on enduro bikes in the UK military.

"I didn't have a full motorbike licence back in the UK so when I arrived in Australia 18 months ago, I wanted to take full advantage of the number of good weather days."

"I couldn't believe I had won a brand new bike. I haven't won anything like this in my life. It was a real surprise! I hope to upgrade to a Honda VFR1200F once I finish my restrictions, and will be completing HART's Intermediate and Advanced I and II courses once that happens."

HART has long been considered the preeminent provider of rider training and licensing in Australia. Highly qualified instructors deliver state-of-the-art teaching methods to over 19,000 riders each year from the Victorian, Queensland and New South Wales locations.

  • Yamaha EC-03

    Watch Video HERE

    http://www.scootersales.com.au/News-3497-yamaha-ec-03.aspx

Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. announces the release of the new electric commuter “EC-03,” a model designed and engineered with the product concept of a “Smart Minimal Commuter.” Yamaha Motor will begin selling from September 1 in the Tokyo metropolitan area*1 and nationwide from October 1, 2010.

The new EC-03 is a “zero-emissions” vehicle with a smooth and quiet ride that also allows the rider to enjoy lightness and slim design not found in conventional 50cc scooters. This model features a new high energy density 50V lithium-ion battery manufactured by SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. and Yamaha Motor’s exclusive super-slim Yamaha Integrated Power Unit (YIPU), which combine to provide smooth running performance at all times.

Furthermore, it achieves a running distance per charge of 43km (@ 30km/h on a flat road)*2 to provide the functionality and running performance desired for short-range transportation needs in the urban environment.

This new model also features plug-in recharging from a 100V household electrical outlet (3-hole grounded type), excellent ease of manoeuvring thanks to its lightweight aluminium alloy frame and other features to ensure the high level of functionality and convenience as a “smart, minimal commuter” vehicle. Prior to its market release, advance orders for EC-03 will be accepted at designated dealerships beginning from July 15 in the Tokyo metropolitan area and nationwide from September 15, 2010.

Leaders in a variety of fields are working to solve environmental problems and improve economic efficiency for the society of tomorrow by clustering or dispersing urban activity into a new structure, in which vehicles are used more selectively than they are now – e.g. automobiles for long-distance travelling while motorcycles for short-distance travelling. Small motorcycles offer excellent mobility for easy short-distance transportation, ideal for the transportation needs of the new society. They will provide still greater convenience and ease of use when they are powered by electricity.

In 2002, Yamaha Motor became the first manufacturer to market a production-model electric commuter, the Passol, as a minimal commuter designed to play a role in next-generation urban transportation. Then in 2005, Yamaha Motor released the Passol-L and the EC-02 with further improvements in the motor and higher energy density batteries that combined to increase running distance per charge. Due to exclusive technologies, such as the electronic control technology garnered from Yamaha Motor’s PAS electrically power assisted bicycle development, these models offer a level of quietness and smoothness to the ride that only an electric vehicle can provide. As a result, they have been put to use in a growing range of areas besides short-range urban commuting, including use as rental vehicles in tourist areas and fleet vehicles in resorts.

The new EC-03 has been developed as a “personal commuter” vehicle that is expected to find even more diverse uses in the future. For Yamaha Motor, this model is a manifestation of our efforts to develop new forms of “Smart Power”*3 as defined in our current medium term management plan.

*3: New power sources, primarily for electric vehicles, designed to create a new paradigm of mobility.

    1) Super-slim power unit (YIPU) that provides outstanding power on starting and low-speed torque
The super-slim power unit YIPU (Yamaha Integrated Power Unit) is adopted on this model.

It features a direct-drive type in-hub motor to minimise drive power-transmission loss and computer control to calculate output based on rear wheel rpm and throttle position for smooth running performance. In combination with optimum gear settings, the built in electronic throttle and specially designed tires, this unit helps provide a silky-smooth and quiet ride. The newly designed motor and control unit help achieve added torque when starting and in the low-speed range (approximately 10%-15% more than the existing model).

The basic structure of the super-slim power unit integrates into the rear hub (1) a super-flat surface opposing type brushless DC motor, (2) a super-compact controller, (3) a planetary type decelerator transmission unit and (4) a drum brake. To achieve even greater compactness, the unit is built into the rear arm. The motor features an anisotropic bonded magnet to help provide excellent performance when starting, in the middle speed range, and when climbing steep inclines.

    2) High energy density 50V lithium-ion battery

The EC-03 mounts a newly developed high energy density 50V lithium-ion battery that also contributes to improved torque (power development) characteristics in the low-speed range. Furthermore, the battery charging is completed in approximately six hours and the running distance per charge is 43km at 30km/h on a windless flat road at 25°C, running in Standard Mode with a load (rider) weight of 55kg on a fully charged battery

    3) Plug-in type recharging

The battery charging system is a plug-in type that increases convenience by making it possible to charge the vehicle where an electric outlet is available. The charger unit is built into the vehicle at the rear end of the seat, so charging is done by simply connecting the plug from the machine to the outlet (3-hole grounded type) by means of an electric cord. The electricity cost of one charge is about ¥18*4.

*4: Average cost for a general customer of Tokyo Electric Power Company when charging the battery from zero to a full charge.

    4) Mutual-communication control system (YMCS)

This model adopts a mutual-communication type controller YMCS (Yamaha Mutual Communication System) featuring exclusive Yamaha control technology. In this system the (1) battery, (2) controller, (3) charger and (4) meter systems operate constantly, exchanging data via a data exchange circuits to achieve integrated overall machine control. This enables automatic control of system activation, motor drive operation, ancillary drive, etc. in all conditions, including when the machine is on standby, when running and when being recharged. The result is easier operation for the user and smooth running performance.

    5) Lightweight aluminum alloy frame for easier machine handling

The newly designed aluminium-alloy frame is lightweight and is designed with optimised pipe diameters and thickness to increase rigidity and improve handling stability. Furthermore, the effect of the optimised wheelbase and weight balance of the various components helps provide excellent straight-line running stability. The compact design with an overall length of just 1,565 mm allows it to fit in a standard apartment building elevator. This model is very space-efficient for parking and storage and can be kept indoors if desired. Due to the use of aluminium in the frame and wheels, the weight of the machine is just 56 kg, which makes it approximately 30% lighter than a gasoline engine model of the same class (based on Yamaha Motor survey). Also, the slim chassis and simple designs contribute to providing an aesthetic lightness as well.

    6) Other features
Other features that come as standard equipment on this model include an electronic throttle built into the handlebar grip, a choice of two running modes*5, a PIN input type anti-theft device, a “High-function LED Meter Panel” with odometer and tripmeter switching function, key-operated pop-up type seat lock, a wire type helmet holder, luggage hook and more.

*5: The EC-03 is equipped with a choice of motor modes to adapt to power output characteristics required for different running conditions. The Standard Mode is for normal riding and the Power Mode is for inclines.

  • Solid Start To 2010 For Suzuki

Suzuki Motorcycles has posted solid results for the first half of 2010, claiming a number of top selling motorcycles and featuring strongly in the majority of sales categories.

According to the recent sales figures released by the FCAI, 48,842 motorcycles, scooters and ATVs were sold in the period 1 January to 30 June, 2010, a decline of 12.1 per cent when compared to the same period last year.

"As this data demonstrates, the first half of the year was quite tough for many manufacturers, including Suzuki," Perry Morison, General Manager, Motorcycles, Suzuki Australia said.

"Despite the decline however, we still experienced promising sales across the board."

"Our ATV sales were up on last year, due to the new fuel injection KingQuad 400 series and the growing acceptance of power steering models by farmers."

"The fuel injection RM-Z motocross models also experienced high sales, due in part to the great product reviews and the racing success these models have recently experienced.

"The introduction of two new Suzuki models, the GSX1250FA and the RMX450Z, in the first half of the year as well as a revamped Bandit 1250 also helped drive our sales."

Suzuki was the only Japanese distributer to record positive growth in ATV sales, with the all terrain vehicle category declining overall by 16 per cent in the first half of the year.

The street bike range continues to perform impressively with a 3.6 per cent increase in sales in the past three months and Suzuki maintaining its dominance in the sports touring category with the top three best-sellers and five models inside the top ten.

Suzuki's GSX-R powerhouses combined to take top spot in the supersport category, headed by the top selling 600cc supersport machine, the GSX-R600, which is also dominating the Australian Supersport Championship.

Another strong performer from the first half of 2010 was Suzuki's off-road line-up, with the DR-Z400SM Super Motard named the top selling motard in Australia and the DR-Z400E continuing its dominance in the enduro category, claiming top spot with 608 units sold making it the sixth best-selling motorcycle so far this year overall.

The DR200SE Trojan also retained its number one spot from 2009 in the Farm category, with the hardworking, value-packed bike selling 280 units so far this year, well clear of its closest competitor.

Motocross champions, the Suzuki RM-Z450 and the RM-Z250 both recorded positive growth in the past six months, posting a 49.1 and 27.8 per cent increase in sales respectively.

Suzuki is expecting to maintain a strong second half with competitive pricing and retail sales campaigns, as well as the early arrival of many 2011 models, including the best selling RM-Z450 and RM-Z250

  • Honda PCX 125 - Coming to Aus

Honda's new PCX 125 scooter breaks the mould

    Honda Australia

    • Honda has released the PCX scooter, available in dealers mid August
    • The PCX offers PGM-FI, an Idle Stop Switch and 46 kms/litre
    • MLP only $3990 offering incredible value for money

Every once in a while a new product hits the market that generates a lot more excitement than usual. For Honda this has come in a rather unassuming package - the PCX 125cc scooter.

Whilst many might think there isn't much to say about yet another small commuter vehicle trying to make its mark, the PCX offers technology and styling never seen before at an incredible price of just $3990.

Firstly, the PCX offers an extraordinary 46 kms to the litre* thanks mainly to an innovative Idle Stop Switch, a first for Honda.

When the Idle Stop function is enabled, the engine will automatically stop running after 3 seconds of idling. It then re-starts when the throttle grip is twisted. Idle Stop mode is enabled or disabled via a convenient switch on the right handlebar.

Secondly, the lightweight, liquid cooled engine features a Honda PGM-FI fuel injection system that ensures seamless, effortless power delivery via the smooth V-belt transmission, while also reducing emissions and fuel consumption. At the same time, it is surprisingly powerful, delivering quick starting acceleration that covers the first 50m in only 5.5 seconds.

Thirdly, the PCX introduces a brushless ACG starter to a 125cc Honda scooter for the first time. This system has a dual purpose, functioning as a starter motor at ignition and afterwards generating electricity for such functions as the spark plug and lights.

The starter's compact size allows the engine's size and weight to be reduced, while its low-friction operation results in high fuel efficiency and prolonged durability. The system also creates an amazingly hushed engine start-up.

The new PCX was truly created for riders who desire the compact, economical advantages of a 125cc scooter and the modern, fashionable good looks more often associated with larger-displacement machines.

Its unique front face and the flowing lines of its bodywork give it a dynamic and modern presence. A dark-tinted windscreen provides excellent wind protection, whilst its sleek contours integrate perfectly with the full-bodied front cowl.

In every aspect, from its low-noise, low-emissions operation to its easy handling and contemporary image, the PCX is designed as a practical, fast and fun ride. And because it's a Honda, the PCX offers the rock-solid dependability for which the manufacturer is so well known.

The PCX comes in three colours including Pearl Himalaya White, Seal Silver Metallic and Asteroid Black Metallic with an MLP of just $3990. It is available in dealers nationally from mid August.

  • Honda PCX 125

Recently released in Europe, soon to be released in Australia. The full story on Honda's PCX 125.

    Honda Australia

    Introduction

The popularity of small-displacement scooters is growing in Europe. Rising fuel prices and awareness of environmental issues have had an impact on the way we think about transport. However, the true appeal of a scooter is not just its low running costs and ability to cut through the city rush hour. It’s also about fun – the freedom and independence that only two-wheel transport can give.

At Honda we aim to provide a scooter for every lifestyle, and our range includes luxury large displacement scooters as well as chic runabouts that can be seen all over town. All of them offer the highest Honda quality, the best technologies for their function and rock-solid dependability.

The new PCX was created for riders who desire the compact, economical advantages of a 125cc scooter and the modern, fashionable good looks more often associated with larger-displacement machines. In every aspect, from its low-noise, low-emissions operation to its easy handling and contemporary image, the PCX is designed as a practical, fast and fun ride.

    Development Concept

A scooter is as much a fashion accessory as it is a way of getting around, and so must feature the most up-to date styling. For those who use a scooter daily as an alternative to a car, carrying space and fuel economy are essential. Most modern riders also want a scooter that operates with the smallest possible impact on its environment; both the immediate surroundings in which it is ridden every day and the global climate.

The new PCX fulfils all of these demands. It will be welcomed as an ideal first ride, a fun commuter and a reliable means of carrying out all kinds of daily tasks.

It is also great fun to ride – the kind of scooter that will make every routine trip across town an enjoyable escape.

    Styling

At Honda, ‘small-displacement’ never means a compromise on comfort or style. The PCX is a perfect example of this principle. Its styling is youthful with a long, low and curvaceous shape.

Its unique front face and the flowing lines of its bodywork give it a dynamic presence and a luxurious feel. By day, the PCX is a quick and convenient way to get around, for work or play. By night, it easily adapts to the smartest venues in the city. It can also whisk a rider, passenger and light luggage out of town for a weekend.

Wherever it goes, its original styling and air of confidence give it the quality of a true trend-setter. A dark-tinted windscreen gives the scootera modern image as well as providing wind protection for the rider.

Its sleek contours integrate perfectly with the full-bodied front cowl. Its dual headlight design is flanked by sleek, upward-slanting indicators, giving the front an exclusive look. The high-tech instrument panel has a speedometer needle that sweeps the dial at ignition, hinting at the fun to come. The cockpit also features an indicator for the engine’s innovative Idle Stop switch, a fuel indicator and other practical readouts, adding to the vehicle’s modern feel.

The scooter incorporates a low seat height and long, spacious footrests creating a secure and relaxed ride feel that complements its smooth performance.

The comfortable seat incorporates back support for the rider and a generous pillion area. Underneath, its lockable storage compartment holds a full-face helmet with room to spare. In addition, a convenient glove box is provided at the front. If more storage space is needed, the rear carrier can also carry a standard 26- litre top box (not included).

    Colours

The PCX makes its European debut in three basic colours, all designed to complement its dynamic styling and elegantly finished bodywork. All colour variants have a black seat and inner body, and black cast aluminium wheels. The main body colours for 2010 PCX models are:

    • Pearl Himalaya White
    • Asteroid Black Metallic
    • Seal Silver Metallic

    Engine

The technology built into the new PCX has been carefully chosen to create the most enjoyable experience possible in its class. Its engine operates with a quiet, smooth proficiency. With a lightweight, compact SOHC configuration, it is surprisingly powerful, delivering quick starting acceleration that covers the first 50m in only 5.5 seconds. It also integrates a liquid cooling system with the radiator built into the engine for compact size and light weight.

The engine features a Honda PGM-FI fuel injection system that ensures seamless, effortless power delivery via the smooth V-belt transmission, while also reducing emissions and fuel consumption. The PCX delivers an impressive 46.0/45.1 km per litre,* which means plenty of riding enjoyment between trips to the service station to fill up its 6.2-litre tank.

    Idle Stop Switch

The engine’s fuel efficiency is boosted even further by the addition of an innovative Idle Stop Switch, a first for Honda. When the Idle Stop function is enabled, the engine will automatically stop running after 3 seconds of idling. It then re-starts when the throttle grip is twisted. Idle Stop mode is enabled or disabled via a convenient switch on the right handlebar, and improves fuel efficiency by another 5%.*

    * Honda figures, obtained in test conditions. The fuel consumption figures for the PCX are:

    • 46.0km/l with Idle Stop (WMTC mode tested by Honda)

    Brushless ACG starter

A brushless ACG starter also contributes to fuel economy. This system has a dual purpose, functioning as a starter motor at ignition and afterwards generating electricity for such functions as the spark plug and lights. The brushless system was pioneered on our 50cc Zoomer, and is applied here for the first time on a 125cc scooter. Its compact size allows the engine’s size and weight to be reduced, while its low-friction operation results in high fuel efficiency and prolonged durability. The system also creates an amazingly hushed engine start-up.

    Chassis

The distinctive form of the PCX is based around a tubular steel underbone frame. Complementing the low seat and extended foot area, the 1,305mm wheelbase creates a feeling of easy, stable balance. The turning radius is short, easing manoeuvres in tight spaces.

High quality 14" tyres add to the comfortable ride. The lightweight five-spoke cast aluminium wheels are stopped by a smooth-acting Combined Brake System. This system effectively equalises the forces applied to a 220mm front disc brake and a sturdy drum brake at the rear, giving smooth, progressive braking that adds to stability and boosts confidence.

The scooter’s suspension systems are developed for light, easy control and smooth comfort. A responsive ø31mm telescopic front fork and a compliant unit swingarm rear suspension with dual dampers combine to ensure a stable, cushioned ride.

    Extras

A range of specially tailored accessories will be produced by Honda Access for the PCX. These include a top box, a higher windscreen and an alarm.
All Genuine Accessories are designed in parallel with the scooter to enhance its sophisticated styling and smooth handling.

Incorrect Media Release by Paul Feeney Group

Peter Stevens Motorcycles is not the provider or supplier of product or warranty to the MV Cagiva brand for Australia in any other way than a retailer.

Peter Stevens Motorcycles was disappointed to read the Paul Feeney Group Press Release that they have ceased operations as the MV Agusta and Cagiva distributor for Australia.

Further we were surprised that PFG nominated Peter Stevens Motorcycles as the supplier of warranty to the MV Cagiva brand. This is incorrect
