  • BMW Motorrad Concept Link

The BMW Group is presenting its vision of zero-emission urban mobility on two wheels. It treads new paths and moves beyond established conventions both with regard to design and technology.

    BMW Motorrad Concept Link

Munich. At the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este 2017, the BMW Group is presenting its vision of zero-emission urban mobility on two wheels: the BMW Motorrad Concept Link. Inspired by the BMW Motorrad Vision Next 100, the design study unites digital connectivity with the demands of urban mobility on two wheels. It treads new paths and moves beyond established conventions both with regard to design and technology.
"The BMW Motorrad Concept Link stands for a new understanding of urban mobility. It links the digital and analogue world and places the focus on the rider and his mobility needs. In the way it links functionality and digitalisation it performs both as a means of transport as well as a communication device. For me the BMW Motorrad Concept Link, with its timeless and reduced style, is more than a concept – it is rather a symbol for a new era." explains Edgar Heinrich, Head of Design of BMW Motorrad.
Design as a distinguishing and segment-defining feature.
The special character of the concept vehicle becomes clear right away thanks to the completely new design language. "The BMW Motorrad Concept Link is not based on today's concepts, but rather meets the basic functionality needs, the technical architecture and the digital reality of today's users. The technical realities of electric drive – such as the flat energy packs in the underfloor and the compact drive on the rear wheel – allowed us to create a highly distinctive design which shapes a new segment. The resulting expressive power of the vehicle is absolutely new for BMW Motorrad and breaks with all conventional viewing patterns." explains Alexander Buckan, Head of Vehicle Design at BMW Motorrad.
The low-slung, stretched body and the flat seat combined with the diagonally rising front section create a modern yet distinctive silhouette. The use of colours emphasises this even further: the front trim in Liquid Metal Titanium contrasts with the semi-matt black body. The colours are oriented diagonally which underlines the dynamic potential of the BMW Motorrad Concept Link.
Tailor-made for the requirements of urban mobility.
The new and emphatically function-driven architecture provides a high level of riding pleasure due to the E-drive. The BMW Motorrad Concept Link is ideally suited to meet the requirements of modern urban mobility with fast acceleration and easy handling. Due to its low overall height, getting on is easy from the side or even from the back. A reverse gear ensures that it is easy to manoeuvre, making it ideal to park in tight city spaces.
The seat bench can be adjusted lengthwise to suit every preference. The proportions also make room for new storage space. In the centre section, underneath the seat bench, a luggage compartment offers versatile storage opportunities. The rider can access this quickly and easily at all times using a sliding door. With its new architecture, the BMW Motorrad Concept Link combines riding pleasure and functionality in an ideal way.
    Clear shapes and modern technology.
Taking a closer look, clear lines, large-area surfaces and simple, precise shapes emphasise the state-of-the-art look of the BMW Motorrad Concept Link. The two-tone colour design reinforces this further. A large matt black area, the technical heart, shapes the core of the concept. It stretches from the front to the rear, and in addition to the tyres and front lights, also integrating the drive unit and the suspension elements. The two iconic LEC front lights are characterised by minimalist design. Their clear-cut layout and the slim contours accentuate the modern and trail-blazing visual appeal of the front section.
The powerfully expressive contours of the side panels framing the dark core of the vehicle, optimise aerodynamics and also provide protection against wind and weather. The sides of the wheels are completely covered, underscoring the contemporary overall visual appeal.
The BMW Motorrad Concept Link also deliberately showcases the technology used as part of the design package.  That is why the side panels don't completely cover the side section at the rear. Instead they stretch across the vehicles side like little wings allowing views of the technical elements like drive unit, cooling ribs, single-sided swing arm, spring strut and tooth belt. At the same time they help improve aerodynamic air flow.
The iconic rear lights have been integrated into the rear side panels in the form of two C-shaped light elements.
Deliberate contrasts and numerous individualisation options.

Contrasts are deliberately played on in conjunction with the clear shapes of the BMW Concept Link to give it a powerful and impressive appearance. The orange-coloured cables connecting battery pack and drive on the right side are highly contrasting in appearance and make a clear and self-assured statement. Their diameter already hints at the power in the drive unit.
The seat bench also makes both a functional and visually powerful statement, the flat seat area being kept separate from the vehicles body. This emphasises the lightness of the side view thereby highlighting the agile and easy handling. The seat bench allows views of the aluminium structure within.
It can be adapted to suit different needs in numerous ways. It can be either a sporty single-seater, a seat bench for two or anything in between giving the concept vehicle a distinctive visual and functional character.
Further customisation options, such as side panels in different colours or different windshields, allow the rider to express his personality, making the BMW Motorrad Concept Link the ideal companion for any situation.
    Connecting rider, vehicle and environment.

Inspired by the BMW Motorrad Vision NEXT 100, the BMW Motorrad Concept Link interprets the connection between rider, vehicle and the environment for urban use. It keeps the rider connected while riding, thereby
expanding his mobile world by providing him with new opportunities. Among other things, the Concept vehicle knows what's in the rider's calendar and therefore his next destinations. As a result it can plan the fastest or most scenic route and even select the most suitable music if required.
The focus is also on being able to enjoy the riding experience without any distractions. The classic instrument cluster has been dropped. Instead speed, navigation and battery information is projected onto the windshield directly into the rider's field of vision. Secondary information is displayed on the large- surface panel, which matches the design perfectly and is located below the handlebars. The panel enables a large number of possible ways of interacting with the outside world and for communicating with other vehicles. The touch sensitive surface of the large-size panel displays and controls extensive infotainment, connectivity and routing information. Freely programmable, touch- enabled buttons on the handlebars allow the rider to access preferred and frequently used functions without having to remove his hands from the handlebars.
    Intelligent rider equipment.
The interaction between vehicle and rider wear holds great potential with regard to rider safety, comfort, functionality and riding experience. On the BMW Motorrad Concept Link, the rider equipment is also connected to the vehicle. To highlight this connection, a motion on the arm of the jacket opens and closes the sliding door of the luggage compartment.
A stitch on the arm signifies the active area. The rider wear is also a fashion statement and deliberately not recognisable as motorcycle gear. Light shoulder and elbow protectors have been integrated into the stylish short coat made of water-repellent loden cloth. However they are not visible in the modern cut of the coat.
With the combination of the emission-free, dynamic drive, a new design language, connectivity and fashionable yet functional rider equipment, the BMW Motorrad Concept Link embodies BMW Motorrad's understanding of the future of urban mobility.

  • PIAGGIO's 130th Anniversary

The Piaggio Group today celebrated its 130th anniversary with an event at the Vetra Theatre in Milan, attended by Chairman and CEO Roberto Colaninno. The celebration offered a window on the future of today’s leading European player in light mobility.

    Piaggio Group

The Piaggio Group today celebrated its 130th anniversary with an event at the Vetra Theatre in Milan, attended by Chairman and CEO Roberto Colaninno. The celebration was packed with significant moments, and offered a window on the future of today’s leading European player in light mobility. Those present included Jeffrey Schnapp, author of the book FuturPiaggio and AD of Piaggio Fast Forward, and Stefano Belisari, aka Elio, the front man of “Elio e le Storie Tese”, who has always had a passion for classic Piaggio vehicles.
Since the company was established in the second half of the XIX century, its history has been interwoven with the extraordinary economic, civil and cultural growth of Italy and Europe. With the creation of the Vespa scooter, and having designed and produced a wide variety of cargo and passenger vehicles, Piaggio has become a worldwide symbol of Italian industry, revolutionising the concept of mobility, a synonym of freedom, on a number of occasions.
The Milan event was the occasion for the presentation of the book FuturPiaggio – 6 lezioni italiane sulla mobilità e sulla vita moderna [FuturPiaggio – 6 Italian lessons on mobility and modern life], a luxury book published in a limited numbered edition by Rizzoli. The volume has a unique and extremely sophisticated graphics design, inspired by an example of excellence in the history of publishing, Fortunato Depero’s bolted book from 1927, a clear reference to the Group’s industrial vocation and innovative spirit.
FuturPiaggio looks at milestones in the history of Piaggio, examining its most iconic products and the story of its men and brands (Vespa, Piaggio, Gilera, Moto Guzzi, Aprilia, Derbi, Scarabeo and Ape), names with a rich history and always at the cutting edge of innovation. A story now projected towards the future thanks to Piaggio Fast Forward, the Group company based in the USA, which has unveiled a new concept in mobility with innovative projects such as Gita and Kilo, the smart cargo robots presented in Boston a few weeks ago and currently under development and testing.
In covering the Group’s 130-year history, the book ranges from the roots of Moto Guzzi to the advanced motorcycling technology achievements at Aprilia Racing, from the creation of the Vespa to the worldwide success of the Piaggio brand as the Group expanded on the international stage. The pre-war period also has an important place and, like the other sections of the book, is illustrated with fascinating archive images, many never previously published, which recount an often surprising story.
At the same time, the luxury book also takes a look at the future, without neglecting the challenges awaiting the Piaggio Group as it prepares to confirm its role as a leader in the new age of mobility, or "movibility", as the book’s author, Jeffrey Schnapp (Professor of Romance Literatures and Comparative Literature at the Department of Architecture and Design at Harvard), calls it in a Manifesto set out in the publication.

FuturPiaggio – From the foreword by Piaggio Group Chairman and CEO Roberto Colaninno
Piaggio was founded in the highly productive climate of Italy’s industrialization, fast becoming one of its leading actors and aligning its industrial development with the country’s extraordinary economic and civil growth. In the post-World War Two period, and after having concerned itself with the design and production of the most diverse forms of the transport of goods and people, Piaggio took its name and that of its products around the world, thus becoming the very symbol of Italian and European industry, linking its name to the theme of mobility that has always been synonymous with freedom.
Businesses, like living organisms, have their own genetic code, an intimate trait that marks their existence, guides their actions, and, lastly, determines their fate. Piaggio has based its history and success on a love for innovation, on the capacity to imagine a future invisible to others, and to understand, interpret, and hence, satisfy people’s needs, even the needs of those who are beginning their lives today, wherever they may be in the world. It has done so for 130 years, and it continues to do so today.
Today Piaggio and its brands are actors on the global stage, providing innovative mobility solutions both in mature Western markets and in the emerging countries. Piaggio is in India, Vietnam, and China, accompanying the economic and social development of countries and populations that are the locomotive of the world, seeking solutions and new proposals to the theme of mobility to make everyone’s life, at every latitude, easier and more sustainable.
Our product range goes from small scooters to sports motorbikes, which also play leading roles on the race tracks and in the world’s top competitions, from commercial vehicles to revolutionary ones, such as the first and most widespread hybrid-powered scooter in the world, from the sumptuous motorcycles designed for endless distances to icons of elegance like Vespa, unanimously recognized as one of the symbols not only of style but also of Italian culture.
With the third millennium now under way, Piaggio is a group that operates in the world, and that distributes its points of excellence around the world, because we want to be at the forefront wherever ideas are created, wherever innovation and lifestyles are born that will influence the decades to come. For this reason Piaggio Fast Forward has its headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts, where research, the university, visions of the future, technology, and business forge positive synergies.
The Piaggio Group remains deeply committed to playing a leadership role in this emerging, expanding universe of mobility, where scooters, motorcycles, and other light mobility vehicles will become ever smarter, and ever more connected and interconnected. Innovation means vision and imagination as well as rigor and technical know-how.
In a few decades our planet’s population will double, and megalopolises whose dimensions we can only imagine will accommodate tens of millions of people. The challenges that these scenarios, together with the progress of new technologies, pose us are a testing ground never before faced by the human race. Mobility and therefore the social relations in these new urban environments, the eco-sustainability of complex systems like that of transport, the interaction between vehicles, networks, users, and environments, are just a few of the trials that we shall be facing in the next few years.
The challenge will be to be able to speak to the new generations, and interpret their needs that we still do not know about. In an extraordinary moment of technological, economic, and social transformation, we are called to do something different and harder than 'simply' learn from our history: we must cherish its lessons and, at the same time, continue to write it, pursuing the road of continuous innovation, following with coherence and vision the same values that underlie our work and that have guided us for over 130 years.

  • Vespa Elettrica at EICMA

    Vespa Elettrica at EICMA

The Piaggio Group invests in electric motors to redesign the mobility of the future. Introducing the Vespa Elettrica project, the new mobility solution.

VESPA ELETTRICA – The Mobility Of The Future According To Vespa
The Piaggio Group invests in electric motors to redesign the mobility of the future.

Introducing the Vespa Elettrica project, the new mobility solution according to the most elegant and beloved two-wheeled brand in the world that takes a step into the future in complete consistency with the values that have accompanied its history.
Over four billion of the seven billion people residing on Earth live and work in heavily populated urban areas. New supercities are constantly springing up and, becoming increasingly interconnected, a phenomenon which is set to drive economic and social development. Today almost 80% of the world's GDP is generated in these huge urban metropoles, which in turn consume 80% of the world's energy. Higher and higher numbers of people are flocking to these cities, whose size is increasing to accommodate them despite the risk of social collapse owing to liveability problems. The world's 600 largest cities are now home to 20% of the world's population and they generate more than 50% of global wealth.
The mobility sector is facing a change of scenery that poses epoch-making challenges connected to the environment, pollution and the quality of life.
In its most advanced developments, the electric engine is currently the favoured solution for the requirements of this new mobility.
    A technological and cultural challenge
The Piaggio Group, whose tradition in electric motors dates back as far as the mid-seventies and who launched the first and best-sold hybrid scooter, is investing in the electric mobility of the future, presenting the Vespa Elettrica project at Eicma 2016.
It was only right that such a big challenge would be tackled under the wing of the Vespa brand.
Vespa has changed the lives of entire generations all over the world, always giving the most advanced answer to their desire for mobility that has skilfully interpreted and evolved while still remaining true to itself.
On the back of more than 18 million models, over 1.5 million of which have been sold in the last decade alone, such global success has turned the brand into a universal symbol of elegance and technology.
Now the Vespa Elettrica project confirms the Piaggio Group's commitment, not only to people mobility, but to a desire to change the way in which people move.
Because of the excellence of this project, the Piaggio Group is assessing the most advanced players in the sector on a global level to develop innovative technological electric motor solutions together. This concept will be translated into the final version of the Vespa Elettrica, for which production and sales are planned for the second half of 2017.
The Vespa Elettrica will, first and foremost, be a true Vespa, bringing the very latest in electric technology to a vehicle that will retain all the features that have been vital to its success.  The style, agility, ease of use and riding pleasure will be the same as the Vespa we have always known, with the addition of technological and innovative connectivity solutions. A perfect mix of excitement, technology and environmental friendliness that only Vespa can create. Like it has always done in its first seventy years of history.

Upgraded Italian Green Experience Technology (i-Get) engine: maximum quality and reliability.
Vespa Primavera and Vespa Sprint i-Get power plants are single cylinder engines, completely new both in terms of mechanical components and electronic parts. The upgraded power plants are the result of a design philosophy that sets new and more advanced quality and reliability levels as its primary objectives. Every aspect of the design process was aimed at increasing the efficiency of each individual component, thereby working together to maximise performance and minimise consumption and emissions (not only polluting emissions but also sound emissions). With a testing phase of more than one million kilometres, the new i-Get engine is a testament to the attention to quality and reliability in the development process.
    Changes include:
    • the crankshaft, with 24% increased inertia compared with the previous engine for a decisive reduction in vibrations and a smoother ride.
    • A new starter motor, decidedly quieter.
    • A new gearbox cover, to reduce the noise even more and increase strength.
    • New exhaust system makes the engine quieter and at the same time ensures a pleasant sound.
The i-Get power plants that equips Vespa Primavera and Vespa Sprint are ultra-modern, single cylinder 4-stroke 125 and 150 cc air cooled engines with electronic injection and 3-valve timing. Each and every detail, from the exhaust to the internal design of the gearbox cover, has been designed to make the ride smoother, quieter and more comfortable. The injection system has been optimised and improved in terms of efficiency and the result is an engine which is environmentally friendly and capable of performance at the top of the category. The i-get 125 cc and 150cc engines both feature improved power and torque.

Vespa Settantesimo: 70 Years Of Vespa
A range of special edition models celebrates the first seventy years of a universal legend.
In the Spring of 1946 the first Vespa rolled off the assembly line in Pontedera. On the 70th anniversary of that historic moment Piaggio celebrates an incredible milestone.
After more than 18 million units produced, Vespa has released 3 celebratory models in limited numbers with the inimitable elegance that made Vespa the most famous and beloved scooter in the world.
Three models which truely embody the modern charm of the Vespa tradition and design, three models filtered through seven decades of stylistic evolution, three models finished i an exclusive chromatic azzuro 70 colour scheme unique to these three special models.
Vespa celebrates the history of a vehicle that went beyond its function of agile and fun commuting to become a symbol of style and functionality. Today Vespa is not just a scooter, it is the most famous and beloved two-wheeled vehicle in the world.
Over the decades Vespa has brought together generations from all cultures and united them with a single passion. Vespa is the first truly global brand in mobility interacting with social environments at all ends of the spectrum. Vespa has led fashion, music and youth revolutions. It has accompanied populations through development and growth. It has sped them along in all phases of economic well-being and today it is one of the most popular and well-known Italian products in every corner of the globe. Vespa's cult following is a symbol of timeless elegance.
And so three models - the quick and agile Primavera, the GTS flagship and the iconic PX - celebrate this incredible milestone with a special series in an exclusive chromatic look: Azzurro 70 colour scheme, a special colour that draws from the best Vespa tradition and makes its début on this unrepeatable occasion. The colour scheme enhances and highlights the charm of the Vespa design, filtering through seven decades of stylistic evolution.
The Vespa Settantesimo range is also made truly special through a series of additional personalisations including a new and elegant dark brown coloured saddle, finished with contrasting beige piping and embossed with the Vespa Settantesimo logo elegantly placed at the height of the passenger seat. The Vespa Settantesimo models are also characterised by a dedicated graphic on the inner leg shield and the wheels are finished in a contrasting shade of grey to compliment the Azzuro paint. A classic chrome rear luggage rack is fitted to each model and holds an elegant leather bag, colour coded to match the saddle and bearing the seventieth anniversary logo.
The Vespa PX holds a special place in this celebration (in the eternal 150 cc engine capacity), a timeless legend which, thanks in part to its manual four speed gearbox, remains a legendary and inimitable model. To celebrate its seventieth birthday Vespa could not neglect the Primavera, the model that best interprets the youngest and cheekiest spirit of the range. With the introduction of ABS in the 150 engine version, it also confirms its attention to safety and continuous technological upgrades which has always marked Vespa's history. The Vespa GTS 300 also takes on the festive look, the large body Vespa is the sportiest and most powerful, with the most cutting-edge technology.
All 3 are available now in limited numbers through the authorised Vespa dealer network. For your local dealer visit

    New Piaggio Medley 150

Australia’s best selling Scooter brand Piaggio has released a totally new and innovative new commuter, the Medley 150 i-GET into the market.

    New Piaggio Medley 150 i-GET
Australia’s best selling Scooter brand Piaggio has released a totally new and innovative new commuter, the Medley 150 i-GET into the market. Medleys dynamic design will satisfy the most sophisticated commuter looking for more than simple transport with a specification list not previously available in the tall wheel, midsize category. As the name suggests Medley brings together multiple elements of style, technology and practicality in a dynamic, lightweight and versatile commuter. Medleys fashionable styling will appeal to new generation of commuters who are looking for transport that visually reflect their modern cosmopolitan lifestyle.
The Piaggio Medley was launched at an exclusive 'Men, Medley and Mo’s' event where the model was presented to the press in a really cool way by going over all the new models features and Peter Stevens Importers HQ in Melbourne before heading to Uncle Rocco's Barber for a feed, beer and haircut. The event highlighted the features and functionality this versatile and stylish model. Practicality with style, something Piaggio do so well.
Medley’s totally new design is based around a new light weight chassis and debuts an all new liquid cooled i-GET motor (Italian Green Experience Technology) packed with advanced electronic technology. Medley 150 i-GET continues Piaggio commitment to efficient environmentally friendly transport through a new ‘stop / start’ feature designed to stop the motor when stationary and restart instantly at the turn of the throttle. The compact power plant also complies with stringent e4 emission standards making it extremely fuel efficient yet powerful enough to travel easily and comfortably at 100 kph. Front and rear ABS braking provide rider confidence on the road while the electronic anti theft immobiliser deters theft while parked. Additionally there is a USB, daylight front and rear led lighting, tilt sensor and detailed analogue dash with digital display to relay clear and functional rider information.
Styling is contemporary high wheel design brilliantly and proportionally scaled down from the popular Beverly 350 to provide excellent comfort and manoeuvrability in a more compact design. Riders benefit from the large saddle which conveys a sense of space while a slightly elevated passenger seat provides a relaxed seating position which includes flat fold out pegs and security through a well positioned grab rail. The electric seat release lifts the saddle with spring assist to reveal a huge under seat load space.
Riding comfort is an absolute premium with Medley. Piaggio invested heavily in the development phase to ensure noise and vibration is reduced to a minimum. On the road large wheels provide stability. Light weight, 132 kgs, combines with a low centre of gravity to provide manoeuvrability and twin rear adjustable shockers provide comfort. The location of the fuel filler in the central tunnel is easily accessed.
Piaggio dominate scooter sales in Australia and the arrival of Medley 150 i-GET will see it placed between the best selling FLY 150 and the larger Beverly 350. Medley 150 iGET is available in two versions: Standard in Bianco Perla and Grigio Titanium and an ‘S’ version with grey and black trims in Nero Vulcano and Rosso Ibis.
A range of accessories include rear top box and screen, Piaggio Multi Media platform and Piaggio sound system will enhance the capacity and experience.
Medley 150 iGET manufaturer list price is RRP $5290 plus ORC ($5390 for the S model) and will come with Piaggios 2 year unlimited klm warranty and feature 10,000 klm service periods.  For more information and stockist lists go to:

Sales of (RED) Vespa Will Raise Money For The Global Fund
The Piaggio Group and (RED) announce the start of a partnership in support of raising funds to finance programmes that battle against AIDS. Attending the event that launched collaboration between Piaggio and (RED) was also Bill Gates who, with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is one of the main global protagonists in the battle for health and wellbeing in developing countries.
It will be Vespa, the most beloved and famous two-wheeler brand in the world, that develops a (RED) vehicle. From the sale of each unit, $150 (USD) will go toward supporting the activities of the Global Fund for the battle against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. Two prestigious brands, recognised all over the world, combine forces in the battle for a world where no child will be born with the HIV virus.
“The partnership with (RED), one of the most prestigious institutions in the world, represents another concrete commitment by Piaggio in this area”. The Piaggio Group CEO and MD, Roberto Colaninno, emphasises “We are happy and proud today to have been chosen by (RED) to represent the mobility sector as one of their partners. This will be a global collaboration between two organisations recognised all over the world as symbols of professionalism and excellence”.
The Vespa (RED) that will be presented in its definitive form at the next Eicma show (Milan from 10 to 13 November) was on display today in Rome as a sneak peek during a Global Fund event at the National Institute of Health.
The Vespas that are manufactured in partnership with (RED) will be sold in Europe, Asia, the Pacific and the United States. The first group of Vespa (RED) vehicles will go on sale in December 2016, to coincide with (RED)’s Shopathon campaign.
Founded in 2006 by Bono and Bobby Shriver, (RED) has contributed $350 million (USD) to the Global Fund in the battle against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. These funds have arrived in Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania and Zambia, with 100% of the resources destined to activities on site. (RED)'s support for the Global Fund has had an impact on more than 70 million people with prevention, treatment and consulting operations, as well as HIV tests and assistance services.
Deborah Dugan, CEO, (RED) said: “ We’re honoured to have Piaggio join the AIDS fight with the launch of their iconic (Vespa) RED that will raise money to support the critical work of the Global Fund.”
With more than 18 million vehicles sold around the world since 1946, Vespa is a unique case in the history of individual mobility. First introduced as the vehicle that would relaunch Europe in the post war era, it has become a symbol of freedom, uniting different generations all over the five continents and today it is a globally recognised icon of Italian style.
The Piaggio Group has historically been sensitive to the problems connected with protecting the health of children. An example of this is the recent Vespa For Children initiative, an international charity that, in collaboration with the Bambino Gesù Hospital of Rome, paved the way for a medical-surgical programme at the National Hospital For Pediatrics of Hanoi in Vietnam.
  • Hunter Custom Scooter's Here

    Hunter Custom Scooter's Here

The Hunter is Australia's first custom petrol powered 150cc scooter, street legal ready for you to cruise around town on. Turn heads on the street, show it off at the beach, add some fun to your commute to work, or cruise just for the enjoyment of it.

    Hunter Scooter

Australia's First Custom Scooter - Hunter Scooter Is Here! were lucky enough to be given the opportunity to check out the new Hunter Scooter. This low, stretched scooter with fat rear tyre is definitely something else. Hunter are a new Australian boutique scooter company for the rider that wants something different (limited to 76 per year) with the ability to stamp their own personal mark on it through endless customisation options. After having fun riding it around Sydney's Eastern Suburbs it proved a real head turner. We look forward to getting to know Hunter Scooter and bringing you more updates and reviews. Luke Sommen of Hunter Scooter kindly introduced us to the 150cc model after just getting back from a factory visit and has reason to be excited.
    Customisable, powerful and seriously cool.
The Hunter is Australia's first custom petrol powered 150cc scooter, street legal ready for you to cruise around town on. Turn heads on the street, show it off at the beach, add some fun to your commute to work, or cruise just for the enjoyment of it. Hunter have created it, now it’s up to you to customise it. While this very well could become your new passion, you also have some serious benefits to justify your Hunter purchase. Save money on fuel, rego, insurances, never pay for parking, minimise your time in traffic, legally lane split, use bus lanes (check your state’s road rules) all while reducing your carbon footprint!
Owning a Hunter can also become a great hobby as you can spend hours tinkering, adding to, and customising your Hunter in your own garage or shed. With a myriad of aftermarket options this could be a life-changing purchase that will allow you to express your individuality in a mass produced world. If you don't have a garage but want to play around with your scoots, there are shared workshops where you can go and use their tools or mechanics that offer modifications. Contact Hunter Scooter for our current list of spaces available to help you deck out your ride.
The Hunter Scooter look originated in the alleyways and chop shops of Tokyo in the late 1990’s, where ‘originality defined character’. These little bare-boned scooters were transformed into street beasts: with the addition of extension arms on the drivetrains, dropped suspension, cut off sports exhausts, front foot pegs for the cruiser look and, most importantly, a fat piece of rubber on the rear.
These bikes set back their owners loads of cash in customisation. The first expense was their original purchase, which in most cases was in the form of a 50cc Ruckus or Zoomer platform. As customisation became more widespread, the availability of modifications for this type of scooter grew. Manufacturers were offering so many parts, spares and tweaks, bike owners were spending up to three times their original investment on parts to modify and separate their scooter from the pack. They look great, but took a lot of funds and hard work to get there.
Hunter wanted to create something just as mean, but at an affordable price that has ‘street cred’ straight outta the crate. The Hunter Scooter has been many years in the making and they have been through many lengthy stages of research and development to get the fine tuning just right. Hunter Scooter have been able to source a great quality manufacturer with an output of 100,000 bikes a year, plus a state-of-the-art factory with high levels of quality control at international standards. We couldn’t be more excited about this incredibly cool bike, the first bike of its kind into Australia.
With its four stroke 150cc air cooled motor, Hunters claim a top speed of 90km/hr. Although, Hunter Scooters have clocked it at 109km/hr at Eastern Creek Raceway just outside of Sydney with a slight headwind. This top speed is adequate for city commuting, running around town or heading to the beach.
Hunter Scooter offer a 1 year/10,000km motor warranty. Although Hunter is a new company in Australia, the Hunter factory in China has been producing high volumes of bikes for local and American markets for over 13 years. Additionally, as these machines are hand-crafted using the latest technologies, each will yield unique characteristics and personalities. Rest assured you are fully backed by the Australian supplier who is also ordering OEM spare parts for your Hunter (including the fatty rear tyre).
    How much is a Hunter?
