I started it as a Launceston Scooter tag but got no responses so either there are no scooterites on here from Launceston or if there are they aren't interested in playing this.

Here are the edited rules for a non-specific location scooter tag..

You just have to take a photo of your scooter in line with the previously nominated tag but not the exact same place. For example the starting photo is taken at the Fountain outside the Launceston Country Club Casino. I have to nominate the actual tag so I could choose anything in the photo which could be the Casino (or Fountain) in this instance. The next person has to photograph their scooter with the nominated tag in their photo. So it could be any Casino in any place not just the Launceston Casino. Then that person takes another photo of their scooter with something, it doesn't have to be a place it could be a certain object & nominates the tag in that photo for someone else to find.

Have I made sense??? Hope so...

OK Here's the 1st photo & hopefully it will get more response as an Nationwide/Worldwide Scooter Tag thread

Tag is: Your scooter at a Casino

Leaving Ikea Logan at approx 7:00pm for a leisurely cruise down to the Ferry Road Diner. Anyone on a restricted 50 is more than welcome (and are encouraged) to come along. Jzraik took his Today down last week (that feels so wierd to type) - it is restricted to the point it goes downhill at a max speed of 50kph!

For anyone into hot rods or the era this is a meeting place with great food and atmosphere. We should arrive around 8-8:30pm so anyone already on the coast come on out and say hi.

as you know I have 50cc scooter, today after 2 weeks I went back to it and tried to turned on to go to the shopping, but it didn't started for some reasons!

even the back light didn't turned on!

what would be the reasons?

I check the gas and it's full, what else?

I used the pedal kick to start it but didn't worked again!

thanks!

Sorry, I've been a bit quiet on the boards here but I keep in touch vicariously...

Jax, the protest photos look really good, a good united front.

I just wanted to propose a further protest, which may have a good chance of effecting some change (let me know if I'm off the mark here).

In order to get Keneally and her louts to listen to us, we need to get them where it hurts and that means votes. She is only going to care about anything affects her, so let's affect her. My proposal is this:

1. we organise a nationwide petition which states that come March 2011, every person that signs it undertakes to vote against Labor specifically because of this issue. I propose that we make that undertaking in the form of a statutory declaration and that we try to get as many bikers as possible to sign. The stat dec sends a message that this isn't just a vague intention to vote against her, but a legal undertaking to do so. To Keneally, this will mean a guaranteed loss of thousands upon thousands of votes. We deliver those stat decs in hard copy to her office, which is visually impactful...a huge pile of lost votes. We also contact media outlets to publicise these loss of votes.

2. we contact the opposition leader and offer him/her (i'm not actually very political, so I don't know who this joker is) our votes if they satisfy us on this issue.

3. we contact an insurer and offer them our patronage collectively if they reduce premiums to pre-lunacy levels (this one is going to be nigh on impossible, but still worth a shot).

If the federal election has taught the politicians anything, it's that even a few thousand votes count, so we can leverage off this to get what we want (or try to).

If anyone wants to try this, I'm happy to be an active participant. We will need to man the more popular bike shops on the weekend, organise some sort of social events so we can get everyone together to sign these stat decs.

Do you guys think this is worth doing? I have been thinking about it and I really believe that we need to use our numbers to effect change.

Mich.

Sydney "Coz We Can" Ride

Sunday 11 Oct at a civilised hour...

Meet at the Shell garage on Epping Rd at 9.30am

Now, anyone who knows me, knows that I can't navigate west of Glebe so I propose we take the M2 (with tolls) so I can't get too lost.

If someone else knows a route to avoid tolls (but not get too caught up in traffic) then feel free to step up and lead.

2nd meeting point would be Shell at Richmond at 10.30am (or later if you rely on me to get you there.)

Up the Bells Line in time for lunch at Mt Victoria pub (although I recommend wandering down the road to the pie shop).

Who's in?

Tragedy, Brisbane scooter rider dies in accident

I'm a Locksmith on the Gold Coast and have a great interest in Scooter and Bike locks and keys, I started Locksmithing in 1965 in Brisbane and still remember doing Vespa keys when Vespa were in Barry Pde. in the Valley in Brisbane, I doubt that they are still there.

I'm getting more and more requests for keys for scooters these days as their popularity has exploded. So I'm hoping that I may be able to keep up to date with some of the changes in locking systems for scooters through your forum.

I also belong to "Locksmith Trader" forum where I am a moderator. http://www.locksmithtrader.com/forum/index.php

We have recently had quite a bit of discussion on some of the Magnetic head keys which are becoming widely used by many Scooter manufacturers. one of our suppliers is currently sourcing key blanks for these keys, we already have magnetic head keys available for Honda and Yamaha and hopefully more will become available.

Our forum has around 340 Locksmiths spread all around the country and other parts of the world. Many of these members carry quite a good range of Bike and Scooter key blanks.

Should you require names of members that do Bike and Scooter work I would be happy to supply names.

Thankyou for allowing me to be a member of your community and I will be following changes in bike locks closely in an attempt to keep up with it.

I hope that you don't mind me asking questions.

Thankyou

but the real action was building up out the back

Soon people started arriving

and arriving

and arriving

the cops gave the UMC an "escort"

and the rabble started congregating out the front

15 minutes of speeches

some helmet waving

some sign pilfering

and we all went home...

Was it worth it? Hell Yeah - I'm always up for a bit of windmill tilting

Was it effective? - only time will tell.

The MCC and the RAB need to follow it up with something??? or it will suffer from the Riders Curse - APATHY!

Mystery mid range power loss

HI, new to this site.

I have a 2006 CV50 Yamaha Jog with following mods;

mallosi 70cc iron kit

gianelli reverse pipe

Dr Pulley variator and 4g sliders

Posh programable digital CDI (has 4 timing advance settings)

and a stock 17.5 carb

I had it tuned nicely using a 92.5 main jet and about a 12mm hole in stock air box.

I was getting better fuel economy than stock with more power and good burn on spark plug.

Then out of no where I get a loss of power right in middle of rev range (55-60klms/hr). If I hold WOT from stand still it powers on through it with just a dullness arounf the 60 mark and heaps of low down and top end power. But if I cruise at 55 then hit WOT, it is slow to react and dul, when it used to rocket away.

I thought contra spring so put in a white one and no help,

then I tried 3 x diff plug heat ranges 6, 7, and 8...no change

so then I tried a bigger jet as it did just get a little warmer (spring time) 102 main, and 2 small extra drill holes (otherwise it bogs down) and still have the mid range issue.

Only things I have left is trying a 85-90 jet with air box holes mainly blocked off and a red contra spring, but I saw on a blog it may be ignition related?? any ideas? as I do have it set on the most mild setting out of 4 for advance timing.

PS, overall the bike is awsome and no apparent 'jetting issues' as she is smooth on throttle all the way, starts OK and not a lot of smoke except on choke start up. The mid range loss is also more annoying than a problem and I had changed nothing in a week prior to it occurring.

thanks

in advance

I was just wondering what engine oil people use. The manual recommends to use 10w-50. I was told to make sure I used motorbike oil and not automotive oil, is this true? What is the difference? Also, what sort of oil should be used in the final gear box?

READ: 1st MELBOURNE informal meeting - forming a branch Of Vespa Riders Club of Australia

over Here on the Vespa riders club forum....

This morning riding to work I found myself at a set of lights on a busy main road (2 lanes of heavy traffic going either way) waiting for the lights to change. I saw a trady ute going from the left around the corner opposite, VERY slowly, and assumed it was about to break down or something, until he reached a point & took off up the road at the normal speed. OK... that was odd.

Then I spotted the cause of his apparent odd driving. A duck was leading a brood of perhaps 6 tiny ducklings across the road! Resisting the urge to park up the scooter & run across the busy intersection in the hope of leading the family safely across the road, I could barely watch as one car after another came from the right-hand road heading into the road with the duck & ducklings looking like sitting ducks. If you'll excuse the pun. Astonishingly every one of the cagers spotted the hazard & did their utmost to go on their way without causing harm to the duck & her family.

The lights turned green, by this time the family had reached the island in the middle of the road, & I slowly moved on almost in tears assuming the ducks wouldn't be spotted by the traffic heading in the opposite direction but still watching the story unfold. The mother duck continued on her way, heading towards the two lanes heading in the other direction. Actually it was one filter lane & two lanes of traffic. As soon as the duck made a move onto the road not one car, from that point, made a move but waited while the duck & babies crossed the road. They made it!

This is the first time I've seen a scooter with an idle stop feature. The scooter seems well priced and has a few other interesting features and excellent economy. And it looks modern and very sharp to me.

I have a 2005 Vmoto monza, I got it with 1500kms, pipe & variator at 3800kms, and after that it seemed to have a problem. Not a very big one at the time, when it was working hard (hot & more fuel), it would occasionally just stop. It would go from running nicely to 1 second later the engine stopped, with me left rolling on a highway. I put 7.5g rollers in it to get me to Tafe every day, and on the od occasion (normally when there was a head wind so i was making it work harder to keep going), it would stop. I would get some aerostart out of my underseat storage, fire her up, and off I went. I did this untill it seized at 7500kms.

I then bought a Malossi cast-iron 70cc big bore kit, and this problem is alot more noticable. Everytime i jump to 80km/h on stock road to tafe, within 3 - 5kms of getting on the road, i'm on the side of the road having it stop on me, and it turns over, but doesn't start. (On 1 occasion i had another spark plug, put it in, didn't work, so i touch the coil and pressed the start button and it was certainly sending electricity. Has anyone else had this problem because we have changed fuel filters, cleaned the carbi out many times, new cold start idle, new spark plug coil, and its beginning to get very costly and isn't fixing the problem, and its not once a fortnight anymore like with the old engine. I run with 2 caps oil in fuel tank with 98 unleaded fully synthetic, and normally just get it to 80 and back off throttle so it maintains the speed. While running it in (after 100kms on new engine), i would go around many suburbs, giving it ALOT every takeoff, then sitting at 50/60, and i would ride for at least 1 hour with no problems, but it seems as soon as i jump to hold it at higher speeds it stops. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Mods Include:

- .92mm jet (drilled out)

- Dopler POD filter

- 70cc Malossi Cast Iron big bore

- Stage 6 Pro exhaust

- Malossi Variator

- Malossi Kevlar belt

Thankyou

Oh this is just so nice!

Love this custom red/white Vespa GTS

At first it was hard to pinpoint why it looked so, well so bloody good. This new release presents several enhancements on the first series and the subtle Italiano changes give a sophisticated look only the Aprilians could bring to life. In the design studio someone must have suggested to transfer the face of an Italian fashion model and blend it with the contours of the "One" to give a stunning appearance which are currently unseen on scooters in Australia. The Sportcity One has always set itself apart from the rest of the pack in this class. Larger 14 inch wheels combined with a powerful 125cc engine, sharp looking sports body, typically Aprilia and very smart on the eye. Now looking even smarter thanks to a range of colours that only improve and enhance the already good looks. The all new colours include a sensational all BLACK theme, a funky "stand out" from the crowd GREEN and also the WHITE with a pearly glow. All colours lend themselves well to enhancing the Aprilia graphic that runs under the running board, the green 125 sticker running down the leg shield that reminds us of the economical earth conscious Piaggio engine. The white Aprilia on the red background is a stand out feature! If your of a sporting inclination, and have a eye for a good sort then you would have to agree the new colours look amazing. How does it go? Well we already know and now we have One you can test ride at The Scooter Shop Gold Coast. Oh and I have pinpointed the feature which gives the look, it's the headlights, they have eye shadow which really brings out the eyes....seriously check it out.

Upgraded instument panel with colour change

Headlights set in black gloss assembly
