    pyrah:

Did you see new inventors the other night blokes invented luminous paint for boats that makes them glow all night could be your next scooter mod

Wow!!  It ain't no paint.  I finally watched the repeat on ABC2.  It is actually quite complex and can be suited to other applications.

Maybe coat our scooters in it so mutant 4wd drivers cannot say, I didn't see ya mate?

    Cheers

Yes, you got me there, Jax. I haven't been able to find the study online - well, unless I wanted to spend too much time searching for it. I think I saw it quoted on a motorcycle forum a couple of years ago.

Anyway, the link below is good reading and puts forward both sides of the argument. Remember, I'm not advocating that people don't wear fluoro - I just don't think it's a substitute for defensive riding. In any case, the most visible fluoro colour is pink - you could wear pink and not look like a garbo!

I spent a good 15 mins last night reading through this article, and it doesn't put forward 'both sides of the argument' at all. It takes the 'hi vis is good' opinion, and tears it apart with 'evidence'. A lot of it does make sense, but I'm not sure if it'll stop me wearing my vest.

Also, what is so wrong about 'looking like a garbo'?

like the author said i don't want to rely on a high vis/ drl to protect me from an accident.

Re-igniting an old thread here, we've just taken stock of some new High-Vis backpacks. These are a good quality thing for about $60 retail...

Although I like the idea of visability, until I can get a cool one like this, then.... I'll wait.

Mine was bought in the UK for £10... (via www.safety-one.co.uk)
I'd say there's a bit of initial market scalping going on...

The one we have found is Caribee. A reputable brand in backpacks, not a promotional supplier that prints Biro's and coffee mugs too...

Google-Image search "High Visibility Rucksack", and you'll find the same backpack with the same specs under several different marques. The answer? The same Chinese factory...

Excellent Googling there c.j.b. You are correct in that it is probably the same chinese factory making them. So, what you are saying to all the other readers is that I am overpriced, a rip-off even, and they should all buy from the UK? 16 pounds equates to about $35, plus post which will be about $15+, so all in all, about $50 from the UK..... or $59.95 from AUSTRALIA..... hmmm....
