EOI Pink Ribbon Ride Sunday18th October 2009

Once again it seems there is no organised event for the 2009 National Breast Cancer Pink Ribbon Ride here in Qld.

I would like to get a idea if anyone is intersted in supporting this cause whilst we have a ride.  We would need to have have a system whereby we pay a $10 (or whetever) donation, to make it worthwhile as a fundraising event.  It would be fantastic if we could also get some corporate sponsorship involved in this event as well.

I will do some more research but last year WIMA (Womens International Motorcycling Assoc) decided not to run the event as they had in previous years as it had become to big for them to handle.  I am not aiming for hundreds of participants, just enough so we can make it worthwhile.

Naturally I would love to have a mainly female contingent, but it would be great to get the males on board as well, as Breast Cancer affects you guys too.

Let me know some thoughts etc, and ride ideas.

A great cause Dak, and you're right, it would be great to see guys on board too. I for one love 'em (not guys, that is...), and girls need to look after them. Unfortuantely cancer is the new "C" word and contrary to pouplar belief, guys can get *** cancer. Very serious indeed.

    Best of luck organising something...Yes

For Sydneysiders, Girls Ride Out have taken over from WIMA and are organising their run on 1 November from Club Marconi Bossley Park.

I'd be interested.   Maybe a ride taking in main streets through suburbs, so that more people see us. Also wearing pink bands or something as well.

I have spokent to Qld Cancer Council, and they are very excited about us planning this event, no matter how small or large it is.  I would like to thank you all for your support so far, and hope we get lots more.

I would LOVE some corporate sponsorship in regards to t-shirts etc, so that we can be seen, as well as maybe some balloons etc to decorate the bikes etc (which we can obtain from Qld Cancer Council).  They would like us to make it in the beginning of Oct to kick of BReast Cancer Month, I hope this is okay for you all.  I will look at some dates and confirm something a little later.

If anyone else has some ideas, please let me know either here or via email scootergirl007@gmail.com.

Dak - don't do balloons... not good when you're riding... same with feather boas Wink

Have a prize for pinkest bike - and pinkest person.

Pick a shortish but very public route... i wanted to take ours over the Harbour Bridge - but for some reason the police seem to think that 500 pink bikies might distrupt the traffic - go figure... Stick out tongue

Jax I agree, ballons can be distrating especially if they burst.  Those pics are from THe GRO or DOB by the looks of it.

I will hopefully have more info from QCC on Monday

Thanks mate.  I have the proposal which needs to be done (easy peasy though). I need to get some flyers done up, and I would really appreciate distribution, and word of mouth to get this out there.  I have spoken to Cam, and am hoping for some Scooter Community give aways or any form of sponsorship.  I have a couple of others on board as well, just need to talk to them to see how much support we have.  I will do up a dummy flyer tonight, and will talk to you about things on Thurs of Friday (will let you know)

if anyone else wants to put their hand up to help, It would be greatly appreciated.  A route is yet to be organised.  I would like it to start on the southside, go over the storey bridge and land somewhere in the city... well thats what I would like anyway :)

    Proposed date:  Sunday 4th October!

Is that within National Breast Cancer week?

You'll get a lot more media if it is...
