I am hoping the learned folk here might help a poor mechanical klutz nubie.

I have a scooter that is basically a YP250 majesty (with an Italian body.....the Sophia Loren of scooters!!). It is due to have the valve clearances checked. Could anyone with experience here advise me....is this just a locknut adjustment type....or am i looking at needing shims?I also need to cahnge the drive belt and , again , any advice would be most welcome. Lastly, i have a leak in the top seam of the plastic fuel tank. I have heard that JB weld is the way to go. Anyone have any experience with this stuff? Is it easy to use?

valve clearance achieved by adjusting locknut, valve clearnace (cold) intake valve0.08 or 0.12mm    Exhaust valve 0.16 or 0.20mm. The piston must be at top dead centre TDC on the compression stroke. you need tool to adjust valve clearnace 90890-01311.

You will find info on fitting the drive belt clearly shown on You Tube.

Hi Niks, just wondering , from your experience , are there options for aftermarket variator units for this machine? I'm about due for a belt change and considering the possibilities. Thx.

certainly I fitted a Dr. Pulley variator from Ozscooters direct i think it was 150 bucks, also installed a Dr. Pulley clutch which allows you to fine tune. Just fitting the Dr. pully sliders on their own make a difference to acceleration and improved speeds.

Thanks again Niks. I'm hoping to get the repairs to my scooter done this weekend and have her back on the road New Variator and belt due in the next 6 months (might add the clutch unit as well .....was it fearsomely pricey??)

I would check out the overall measurements of the Beverly clutch and compare with the Majesty 250 you may be surprised.

try looking for other scooters with the same engine. i have fitted dr pulley triangular rollers to the satelis. there are no listing for this model. so i use either the x9, nexus, scab or fuoco(mp3 500)

i will be calling to check if this will fit in a Bev!

Well , we're back on the road after some major surgery (more like minor touch ups really!!) Puncture repaired, leaking fuel tank repaired, battery leads and relay renewed and relocated to address a major corrosion problem (should i get a gel battery.....would it be better than this CJ8 lead sulphide factory??) oil change inc transmission oil and air filter cleaned and oiled, and valve clearances reset (there was NONE on either valve when i checked ....has never been done!!) belt checked (21k and belt is still within tolerance by 2 mm with no signs of wear evident.....i love Japanese engineering!). All i need is some new rear disc pads......might try for those Wednesday.....Jupiter 2 is ready to take off......
