    Scooter won't start!

    Hi guys,

as you know I have 50cc scooter, today after 2 weeks I went back to it and tried to turned on to go to the shopping, but it didn't started for some reasons!

even the back light didn't turned on!

    what would be the reasons?

I check the gas and it's full, what else?

I used the pedal kick to start it but didn't worked again!

    thanks!

If you let it sit for 2 weeks without riding the battery has possibly gone flat

As said more than likely a flat battery can you get someone to start it with jumper leads or get the battery charged up

Milly if you're going to leave the scooter sitting for long periods you should invest in a battery charger. it'll trickle charge the battery, keeping it viable & avoiding ending the battery's life before it's time. They're about $80, bought from many car & bike supply stores (Super Cheap Auto etc)

     2 hours should be plenty

Trickle chargers automatically switch off (the little LED goes green) once the battery is fully recharged so leaving it overnight won't cause any issues. If the battery doesn't retain the charge it may have been damaged by the period of no-use. If that is the case you'll need to replace it & in that case the charger should still be used.

The Vespa will sit for weeks without use (although disconnecting leads from the battery would be a good idea if going on holiday) whereas the Bolwell Legrande was unhappy if it was left sitting for even a couple of days & took multiple tries at hitting the button (while holding the throttle open) to finally get the engine to turn over.

    Hi guys,

The battery is fully charged, the fuel tank is full, but still can't get it run!

there is red gas light turns on when I try to start!

But the oil and petrol are both fine and full.

That is a engine oil pressure light it will be on until the scooter starts then the oil pressure will build up & the light go out

     Milly,

What happens when you try to start the scooter? What do you hear?

Is there a kill switch on the scooter? This can be either a red switch on the bars (near the throttle or other grip) or on the sidestand. If on the bars(or head) of the scooter, have a look to make sure it hasn't been switched accidentally (this catches out so many scooter riders! Including me Smile). The sidestand switch will mean the scooter won't start if the sidestand is down.

If the scooter still isn't starting you may need to ask your friend, who loaned the battery charger to you, to have a look at the scooter to see if they can see what the problem is. If the battery is charged & everything else is ok it may be something very simple.

    Re: Scooter won't start!

There is only a one red button under the throttle which starts the scooter.

i don't think it's a simple problem, as it does not turn on even with kick start, it used to start with one kick now 10 times nothing happens =(

I will ask my friend to take a look at it tomorrow...
