1000kms in one day on the seat of a SYM Citycom

Last Friday I did a 1000kms in 15 hours including stops. Now in the big land of OZ that may not be difficult with the long straight roads, but here on the South Kiwi Island with "4 seasons in one day" & 100's of twisties I had to keep "the pig's ear turned hard open". I was amased at how comfortable the seat is, even after the long day I still could've gone further. The Citycom ran like clockwork.

You can see the slideshow here

at the bottom of the page. I started at 6am and ended at 9pm. Now for a 1000miles in a day. Good way to see a 100 beautifull places in one day.!

There's the FarRiders (www.farriders.com) who're into breaking records like that. (Although imho they've gotten too admin-heavy and become trademark weenies..)

I'm trying to find an excuse to do this myself for a Sydney-to-Adelaide trip, but should it be on the Piaggio, or the Postie? :)

Do it with the Piaggio first and then with the Postie. I would like to do the same trip with my wife's Chinese Xingyue XY150T scooter, anything to make it more of an adventure. But I like to know the odds first, not good to jump into something challenging without doing the homework first and then not being able to do it or not having a back-up plan. Another thing is to plan a pull-out plan as it's no use an adventure turning into a nightmare. IMHO plan the trip, plan the back-up, plan the pull-out criteria and don't take it personally if one has to pull out. Even that is an adventure in itself. It is all about enjoying the ride, not to turn it into a torture session just to be able to say I did it.

I'd say go for it - I've done the Great Ocean road from Adelaide to Melbourne and Gibbs Land in a 4WD camper and it will be an awesome ride IMO.

It's now be a Sydney-Brisbane-Darwin-Adelaide-Mt-Gambier-Sydney trip, on the Postie...

The opportunity has arising from moving house, with over a month before the other place will be ready (the existing tenant is doing a groinal impersonation.. -_-) All I'm waiting on is getting my stuff into storage and modding the CT a little, and then I'll be off.

There's a FarRiders "shrine" at S 32 37.533 E 137 56.808, that I'll attempt the meg'meter for (bugger their 'official ride' BS..), but otherwise it'll be a regular motorcycle camping trip...
