FOR SALE: Scarabeo 500 edit: SOLD

OK I am putting up for sale the Aprilia Scarabeo 500ie

    Mods are:

    J Costa Variator

    Malossi Camshaft

Pod Filter option (currently not installed)

    Dr Pulley HiT Clutch

    Gianelli Exhaust pipe

Custom Paint job (easily removable if requested)

KTM heated grips with high/low settings

    Bar end mirrors

This scooter is one of the best scooters around, it actually manages to do several things well, it is a good looking classic design, scooter that doesn't sacrifice storage, power, or handling.

The reason I am selling is that I have decided to down scale to a 250cc scooter (my wife rides a 250cc, so the excess power is wasted when I am riding with her!)  So someone gets to own one of the best Scarabeos in Australia

It has 40,000kms on the odometer but this shouldn't deter you, as in the USA there are several riders who have put over 100,000 MILES on their Scarabeos!!!   However the Scarabeo is priced accordingly, with over $4000 of modifications alone this scooter is a one of a kind and whether you want to do the shopping, humiliate V8s, cruise the highways or just sit and stare at it admiriing it's beauty this is the scooter for you!!

Asking price is $5999 or will consider a trade for a Quasar engined scooter preferably a Vespa GTS

PS - The this scooter has been clocked doing 0-100km/h in under 6 seconds...

not sure why the images are not showing fully...

For anyone who is interested, this machine, at that price, is a complete bargain.  We've been servicing it, and assisting Adam and James with the application of some of the performance parts that they've carefully researched.  It does exactly what James describes.

Someone buy this scooter, as the original owner I can say this scooter will not dissappoint, I only sold it cause I like to change my vehicles like I change my undies.

I still miss the Beo sometimes - was tempted to buy it back myself, but that would go against my vehicle ownership code.

Scarabeo 500ie. J costa variator, Giannelli Exhaust, Malossi Cam, Dr Pulley Clutch, and SX appeal cup holder. GONE

Bought a ducati, missed scootering so now riding a Vespa 300 super. Polini variator, PM tuning exhaust, Malossi clutch springs jettin bar ends with mirrors, heated grips and still an SX appeal cup holder.

Enjoying my 300 super alot!! Fitted bitubo front suspension last week, which is a nice (though minor) upgrade.

I ride with James all the time and I must say that the 500 is so ridiculously much faster than the modded 300. as in by 100kph it would be 3 or 4 buslengths away from me! I wish I could say that the 300 is faster off the line, but sadly not so.

    Re: FOR SALE: Scarabeo 500

There's no way youre going to catch a 500 on a 278, especially the one you're chasing. I reckon that Scarabeo would have to be one of the fastest scooters, if NOT the fastest in Australia! Im surprised someone hasn't snaped it up. Those Beo 500's really fly on the open road.Great for touring.

One question, How was the Beo in the tight twisties? I had one going hard through 45k/h twisties and it started bouncing around a bit. I dont know if it was the set up of this particular scooter or the character of a big 500 sitting on the swingarm. On the highway and through sweeping corners it was brilliant.

Daelim NS 125: Mighty 1st scoot from Korea that punched way above its weight. Sold
Vespa GTS 250: Modern Retro brilliance. I'll ride it til it dies.Traded in on a maxi.
Suzuki DR650: "That Thing" Excellent Single 650 thumper chook chaser that was too tall. Sold
Yamaha T Max: Best Maxi out there and serious canyon racer. Sold
Triumph Bonneville: Modern Retro brilliance with the sweetest parallel twin.
BMW F800R: The Naked Hun. Great intro into sports bikes.
Gilera Runner FXR 180: 2 stroke scooter missile from Piaggio.
Gilera Nexus 500. Sexy like red Italian stilettos.
Yamaha RZ250RR: Retro Japanese 2 stroke racer.

Yeah if the suspensions isn't set up right I imagine the Beo would bounce a fair bit... I don't mind it... done some epic twisty trips down near albany, pemberton and denmark on this scooter... was awesome... Adam almost rode into the front of an oncoming truck but was able to avoid it (the truck was on the wrong side of the road) without any spills so i reckon it handles ok...

I don't know about the bouncing through 45 kmh twisties, but I can tell you there is always a bit of bouncing through 100kmh twisties.

It would also appeal to a larger portion of the population if you were on the East coast! I would so buy it right now if you were in Sydney.
