I got a flyer about this in the post - thought some of you on here may be interested. It's for a worthy cause, too.

I am taking part in the Black Dog Ride to the Red Centre. We leave Perth for Alice Springs on the 21st of August. It is for a great cause with funds raised going to the Black Dog Foundation and raising community awareness of depression. If you live in or around Perth, the organisers are keen to get as many on two wheels to see us off from the Yahava Koffee Works in the Swan Valley at 9.30. Any scooter riders out there who would want to see off the only scooter rider in Australia taking part, come and be part of the ride along the highway for a short time. Love to see as many scooters there as possible.

It's worth doing the trip(*), even without a Charity behind you.. I was made an Honarary Grey Nomad (junior membership?) for using my small bike for no other reason than to 'just to see Australia'. :)

(*: might not apply to people who have an adversion to sleeping out in the open in their undies after losing a tent :D)

Leigh made contact today with the following message -

say hello to everyone, was doing so well on his scooter, 1st into Kalgoorlie, running like a charm! 1st into the next stop, but did the drive belt 1km from the WA border. Everyone has been marvellous! Scooter on a trailer being towed behind a support vehicle to Alice Springs to be repaired. Having a great time & a function on every night.

Next year. Maybe next year I'll go too. Maybe. Huh?

The Black Dog Ride WA group made Alice Springs today, meeting groups from other parts of the country, although unfortunately minus a few riders who had to drop out due to mechanical problems. There was only one scooter on the ride this year, Leigh's MP3250ie, already there have been some expressions of interest from scooter riders for next year. I think I may just have to join them. Big Smile

Leigh is continuing on his adventure, heading across to Sydney in order to tick a few more activities off his "bucket list", including doing the Harbour Bridge climb. Unfortunately however he won't be in NSW for the Expo & Rally, something he has expressed a great deal of regret over. Sad
