    Stolen scooter

Hi all, am looking for some extra eyes if possible.  Between 12noon and 12.30pm on Wednesday 05 October 2011 my 17 year old sons pride and joy, silver 50cc Bolwell Gypsy scooter was stolen from the motorcycle parking at 25 Cantonment St in Fremantle (opposite the Wilsons Parking, outside the Westpac Business Centre).  His bright blue, full-face, RXT helmet was locked to the bike and it's gone as well obviously.  Unfortunatley the steering lock was broken so it would be easily hot-wired and it was nearly full of fuel so it could be anywhere.   Rego 1CK 180.  Long shot I know but trying every avenue to get it back for him.  Please contact myself, Diane on 0408955136 or Fremantle Police.  It was only insured for Third Party as the excess on a "theft" policy is worth more than the scooter.  Not the point though as it was his hard earned money that has paid for the scooter, rego, third party insurance, regular servicing, etc, etc and it's heartbreaking so see all of that disappear.  Many thanks for any assistance or advice of possible sightings.

Another one Sad unfortunately this story is far too common here in the west. The dealers really need to push the message encourage the awareness of just how pitiful steering locks are & making people aware of more security measures for the scooters that go through their shop as steering locks aren't anywhere near enough. The more visible the security the better. Even a simple cable lock through the back tyre (preferably wrapped around a pole) is enough to send any prospective theives packing.

Keep contacting the police. With any luck the scooter will turn up again soon.

Thanks!!  Don't hold out much hope but you just never know.  The best I can hope for is some serious karma to be heaped on the S#@T that took it!

Ahh sorry to hear the bad news, theft is on the rise , as both a scooter and motorcycle where stolen here on the gold coast, serverly torn up and trashed and left out side my work at griffith uni, seriously there was a forensic police officer dusting for prints. And on top of that , my Rego has even been stolen from there.

I really don't understand the thinking of someone who just takes things that don't belong to them. It boggles the mind...

Amazing isn't it??!!  How long did you wait before cancelling the rego and insurance after it was initially stolen?

Actually I didn't have insurance & didn't know about cancelling the rego, just assumed that reporting the theft to the police was enough.

We've only just paid the third party insurance and rego (6mths) about 2 weeks ago so if we are able to cancel them and get some sort of a refund that might make up for some of the money he's spent on it.
