Very quick sums for scooter vs. 2nd car

Spending $3200 on a scooter that does 29.6 Km/L (based on my SYM VS150) against my 1992 Camry at 10.3 Km/L, which I paid about that much for, and some creative accountancy in Excel, I come to the conclusion that once you would have spent about $9200 on fuel in the Camry, the SYM would have paid for itself. If you'd spend $60 a week in petrol, you're looking at a 3 year time period before the fuel savings paying for the initial purchase.

    * Assuming Rego, insurance and servicing are the same cost no matter which you buy

as my mother says, "if If's and Ands were Pots and Pans, there'd be no need for tinkers"

Just pointing out that getting a scooter to pay for itself in fuel savings is going to take a while. Especially if there's a 2nd car sitting in the driveway anyway.

The frequency and cost of servicing should also be considered, if you have it servicedWink
