    Top speed of 125cc scooter?

Whats the top speed of your 125cc scooter, flat road but you can also mention downhill in here as well.

I get 132km/h on the speedo with 9% disrepency which makes it 121km/h GPS and thats on the flats bouncing of the limiter...Of course, tested on the private track...Smile

Modified or not, it was a genuine question. Stock Pcx does 99kmh GPS, stock Sportcity one 125 did 98kmh GPS and the modified Honda Today did 105+ flats and more downhills...

Anyway can you add any valuable info to the question asked?

Sorry I know its not anything to do with a 125 but I'm surprised a 250 isn't quicker that that! My Derbi GP1 only does an indicated 126 kph

Derbi GP1 250i a properly fun scooter. Now totally renewed, rebuilt, run in, run Hard and now sold.

I know of a 300 Super Sport with Polini 6 roller variator that will do 150kmh on the speedo also has akrapovic exhaust. I also knew of 250 Quasar that could do 140ish again speedo indicated running Polini 9 roller variator. So something is not right with you vario, maybe flat rollers, worn out belt etc etc. Ive heard all the best for 6 roller Polini vario with quassar engines,i'd get that perhaps before an exhaust upgrade if your hunting more performance plus its a cheaper first step....

Re: Top speed of 125cc scooter?

Problem is you need to get to the bottom of what weight rollers are installed in the variator. Normally installing a variator is step 1, after this you look for the speed balance you're after. In your case it would seem like 130 + is where you are wanting to be. So you will need to tune it to do that. I remember riding a standard GP1 which did have an indicated top speed above 126. So could be a number of things happening in your transmission.

After this it will come down to the fact that at high speed one thing could be slowing the scooter a little, and that one thing is you. GP1 is sporty, has a little screen so you're perched up and in the air. The best thing I remember about the GP1 was the handling. It was certainly not suited to freeway work.

Really?  I mean, really?  The hottest GTS I know of has hit about 92mph / 148 kmh (GPS verified, but my memory is hazy on the exact speed).  That's a 244cc GTS upgraded with the full Malossi 4v and 269cc kits and some pretty experienced fettling.  I've seen close to 135kmh indicated - my speedo error that's maybe 122kmh - on my stock GTS 250 (244cc) which actually makes 0.4kw more than the stock 278cc "300". (Details: stock GTS250 w flyscreen, Bitubo suspension, 72kg rider, full tuck, fullface helmet, flat road - some downhill in gaining speed)

I'm pretty skeptical about the impact of variator tuning and gearing on real-world top speed.  Eventually it's all about the peak power of the motor vs the drag on the scoot - sure, you can mess it up with gearing, but you can't take a machine higher than the urge its power actually produces.  I've just spent a week out-running an X7 300 on hilly and open roads to prove that point (mind you, the X7 was a whole lot more stable at speed!!)

So speedo woud have been indicating 160+kmh considering they are considerable ammount out,so whats so unbelivable a 300cc with a new grease trap 6 roller polini variator and a decent akrapovic exhaust pumping some real speed of 135ish GPS or 150kmh speedo indicating?

I get 121kmh GPS out of my 125cc so surley there is nothing unbelivable of seeing a 300cc doing 135kmh easy with some small modding..Sometimes doing bigger bore, head etc etc (tricky to tune to full potential)  may not give you waaay extra top speed but accelaration would have improved considerably i imagine.

I might have been slightly unclear about 250cc qussar when i said 140ish,that was just a rough indication as it could have been 140-1 or 2kmh so thats still only 125+kmh at least GPS which is what you would excpect out of 250cc at least (polini variator), also what is a torque output of 250cc to 300cc? Torque is what is needed to get you across that line...

Made a world of diff on my PCX, coupled with aftermarket face pulley that also has a diff face angle to squezee belt further up it has given me an amazing results, but without a hotter camshaft i would not have been able to reach those speeds without full tuck or slipstreaming or slight down hill advantage, camshaft made a world of difference...
