    Farewell Firenze, welcome Vespa 250gts

Hi, just thought I,d post that I sold my Sym Firenze, and happy with amount I got. Now own a lovely Vespa 250, brand new in Midnight Blue. After the Firenze being a bit too heavy, the ride home on Parramatta Rd in peak hr on the Vespa was quite a breeze, I can handle it easier than the Firenze and its easy getting in and out of my awkard drive, just feels great. Took it for a ride to Windsor yesterday, and it goes beautiful, I,m very happy. Now I can go crazy & buy Vespa t-shirts, bags and heaps of stuff.First thing I want is a windscreen as it didnt come with one. Thanks to everyone for advice when I first posted what to get? This is my 3rd scooter and hopefully thats it now and it,ll see me out. Robyn

Congrats, Robyn. I have to admit I find myself slightly jealous. Ride safe.

Congrats Robyn. After trying two other scoots, I'm sure you're very happy to have one that 'fits' for you. My Vespa is my first and only scoot, and I couldn't imagine riding any other. (Plus it is extra fun searching out all the great 'vespa' stuff you can buy.) YesWink

I'm sure the forum will help you find places to buy what you need, including your windscreen. I think crash bars look good too, but more importantly may help protect the paintwork of your scooter in the event of a slight mishap.

Crash bars never look good !!! Extra width = ouch, "SORRY, driver".

Thanks' it has a little rack on the rear and I like that, got some straps and a vespa bag, they dont have much storage under seat' but for what I use it for ,probably enough for me. Apart from putting a screen on it, that,ll do.So looking for a nice screen, I dont like those tiny ones, they seem pointless, searching for a bigger one, seen one that was tinted and like that, yeah, heaps of vespa gear out there.

Do your homework before buying a windshield. They are good but bigger is not always better. Talk to others first.

ok, thanks, I,m still a novice, so any advice is appreciated, I do like a bit of wind protection on my face even though I wear a screen on my helmet, my eyes get sore, I,ll keep looking & reading then.

Whoa! Poor Pete!! That's really bad luck. Hope you're OK... and of course your lovely Firenze repairable. Good luck with it. Also welcome to Scooter Community!

Congratulations Robyn!! Happy new scooter to you!

Windscreens really help keep you comfortable, provide a tad more speed and fuel efficiency, but as said above bigger isn't necessarily better. I have the mid screen for warmer weather, and bought a large one last year for Winter. I have yet to cut down the height to suit me, but hopefully will get onto it. You'll find there are 'big screen' people and there are 'not in this lifetime would I have a big screen' people. Those who have them love them, and those who do not have them... etc. In honesty they really spoil the look of the scooter. Do a few searches as there's quite a bit of info here about them.

Enjoy your new toy and ride safely!! Smile

Does it have a name yet? (If ever?)

yes, poor Pete indeed, he lives near, brought my firenze and we stay in touch. Very lucky he is not hurt too bad, bike is wriiten off sadly. I will do homework for screen, and when my vespa goes in for 1st service, may try and get  one put on then. Am loving my vespa, just the right size, everything, I,m happy.

Robyn it's a five minute job and very simple. Might save you a bit of ca$h doing it yourself. Just a thought...
