    Russel, I would say i am getting 25km to the litre, 4 litre to 100km

    Daily round trip of 150km, usually put about 6 litre in the tank.


     Daily trip of 150km....?????? HOLY MOLY. Surprise  That's a fair effort.  No wonder you wanted comfort. 

    Fairly decent consumption rate for a 500.  My 170cc sits around the 3.5L/100km with a mixture of city and freeway riding.  I take it you are on a highway or freeway for most of that journey?

    Started out with a Zip 50. Now moving on to a HD 200. Wonder what's next....?? Not wondering any more.... TMAX!!!!!!

    Time for an X10 500 update.  

    To date I have travelled  26,000km on the X10 and the only problem I have is with the piaggio group, not the bike.

    My scoot developed a problem with the kill switch, kept trying to cut out the motor.

    When you are doing 110+ km an hour on the M1 freeway and you have fast flowing trucks and cars at your rear you do not want a scoot that loses power.

    Any how, took my scoot into my dealer and they said the part was on back order and would take six weeks to get here.

    What do ya mean 6 weeks i said to my dealer, can't they just stick the little switch in a little box and fly it over.

    Nope, too hard for piaggio, no flexability,, do not look after their customers.

    Any way, a bit of creative work by the tech at the store and i am on the road again but still waiting for the part.

    The X10 500 is a fantastic, well built machine but if you want reliable  service when you get in trouble and need warranty service.

    Buy from some one else !!!!

    It's a pity they don't just bypass the switch. I've never used mine (always use the key).

    Looks like you're doing 30K a year. Keep changing the oil & filters and she'll go forever. Do you use 98 in the tank or 95?

    How's things going with the scoot Coastrider?
    Always nice to read real world studies on the scooter.

    My Pug also shares this engine.

    I get between 4 and 4.5 litres per 100km.

    My voltage regulator just went bung (apparently the Ducati ones don't last) so am trying Chinese this time. Will see what happens...

    I bought an Electrosport regulator as a replacement for my Piaggio one, but I read that they have fried some people's bikes so I took it off and put on the proper Piaggio one, maybe they don't last but the Ducati one is supposed to be good quality. I don't know much about electronics but I think the regulator/rectifier needs to match the stator, the Chinese stuff is sometimes good, they seem to know about electronics, maybe from all of the manufacturing they do, but don't know if it will go well with the stator.

    I have an unused, unwanted Chinese regulator/rectifier that I think would fit your scooter if you want it, I cannot guarantee it is the right one or that it won't fry your scooter, but it is a Rick's Motorsport one that I haven't used that was for an Aprilia Sportcity 250 or 300 I think.

    Edit: I think it is the equivalent of Piaggio 639110 ex. 58086R. I just looked on the Rick's Motorsport site and they list different model numbers for different scooters, the model no. for mine is 10-012 for Aprilias, which is weird because when I type in my scooter, it shows me this one which I know totally isn't the right one (doesn't even plug in).

    My Chinese one arrived Tuesday morning and I fitted it that afternoon. It's a very easy job once you remove panels (which on the Pug there are plenty).

    I think half the problem is location; they are bolted to the frame just above the cylinder head. Ergo, heat!!

    Is regulating the alternator charge nicely (on my mutimeter) so is doing what it is supposed to do. The big question is, what is its lifespan? The Ducati one got me 30K km.

    I can't foresee stator problems if it's regulating properly.

    Eight months later (and doing an 80km daily commute) the Chinese regulator is working just fine.

    My fuel consumption has also dropped, averaging 3.8 litres per 100km.

    I've had mine for 2 years now and done 15K on it, done a couple of trips through 3 states, 4 weeks on the bike, done about 6k each time and 2 up, fully loaded with luggage got around 25klms/ltr, one up just doing days trips its around 28~30klms/ltr.......I love mine, great scooter, my only concern was tyre wear as the rear wheel is only 13" but have gotten 7K out of back tyre and front still good at 15k
