Re: Vespa GTS 300 - engine upgrade in process!

Hmm , affraid my $$$ are on the 250 cc , don't know exactly why , but i haven't come upon a stock 300cc that can't be digested quite easily by a stock 250cc , well stock except for Dr Pulley sliders which although do provide an edge over std rollers , don't exactly give heaps more .I think most people that buy a 300 cc do so thinking that if 250cc is good , then 300cc has to be better , yet an one who graduates from 250cc up to a 300cc usually says that they didn't really go very far , both 250/300's are fine machines  & if i couldn't have a 250 , then i would happily settle for a 300 cc. I personally think that the best power mod for a Quaser motor is KM's , the Quaser is a very different motor in respect that the further it goes , the harder it runs, 90,000kms & definately revving harder than it did at say 40,000kms , call me mad but thats the exact story of my 250cc .

Red ones always go faster but blue ones go pretty quick , but now blue ones are the way to go😄

ok, I've got the 300 booked in this week - malossi big bore and V4 head, 9 roller polini variator, malossi filer and lambda emulator, finished off with the akrapovic pipe.... looking forward to seeing how this thing goes......

It will be a lot of fun once tuned. You should be ok with just the emulator but if you find it's still running lean you will need to get the forcemaster fuel module to correct the fueling. Otherwise you will burn your exhaust valves out in no time.

Stock variator with 11g rollers worked best in my old 300 but don't tell anyone. Polini 9 roller...maybe with those dr pulley sliders..give it a go but it can chew out your sump gasket be carefull with that one.

Tuning gets expensive especially on a 4 stroke..

    Have fun

Jim, the ECU ignores the emulator at high speed, and just follows its programming. So the emulator wouildn't prevent valve burnout. But I have been riding mine hard, frequently on the freeway, for many years with no valve problems.

I am currently playing with a Malossi Forcemaster in my GTS, but have some problems with the setup and it is not working correctly yet. A fellow in Germany is having the same problems with his GTS300, and SIP haven't come up with a solution yet.

I ran the forcemaster on my kitted LX190ie. I also had problems with it until I got it on the Dyno then it was fine. You have to tweak it on the run under load and read the air fuel mix to get it right.

    Hi,

Your scoot is going to be sick. I have heard good things about the tuner you have chosen too.

If it is still available, I would love to buy the emulator from you. I am in the Inner West, so just send me a PM with your email address and we can organise a get together. You can test ride my scoot, if you have the inclination. Not as heavily modded as Mike's beast, but a fun scoot to ride for sure.

    Ride safe, Jared

Mike Holland's airbox mod alone pretty much cements his status as "Scooter god" in my mind... anything I have achieved with scooters over here in the west has been because of Mike's tireless tinkering and inspiring!!  Anything that Mike suggests I take seriously - lots of trial and error and trial and success from his garage!!
