Thought I had jinxed myself after all my good comments about the new scoot! Suddenly started to misfire and engine/code lights brightening the dash every time I hit a rough patch or tried to accelerate 😖😖

Managed to limp home thinking of how to get to my mechanic and minimising damage in doing so. Many tears held back, just.

Got home and thought I should check wiring before ringing to book a visit to the doctor. Started with the battery panel as it was most accessible starting point and happily found a loose terminal connection. Tightened this up and bike started most happily and took it out to test my luck. No problem and bike performed as it was supposed to👍👍

It seems that the terminal had loosened and lost connection when a bump was hit resulting in a loss of spark and no locomotion until contact reestablished by gravity. Lesson learned and hopefully not to be forgotten😉

Always Check fluids Battery leads and fuses atleast each month.!

Anyway glad it wasn't serious. 

It's not a moped either. There's certainly a mo, but no chance of any peds. 

Would have thought an Italian scooter could handle a few little bumps 

Italian scooter can, Italian electrics not so much......big on tradition are the italians.

No Rod, has a side stand. It even turns the motor off if you have kept it running.

I did a 30km run around the wider area today and managed to keep electrics connected; even tried some rough stuff to keep Pyrah guesing😉. All good. My GT was never less than 100% reliable and the new beast has a way to go to re-establish total faith, but things are looking good.

I love the GT around town, but the XEvo has the legs once the city limits are left behind. It is lumpy at idle speeds, as might be expected from such a big single, but accelerates sweetly and is so smooth at highway speeds.

Very true. I had had it for 3 and a half weeks and was into superficial checks before each ride, but the monthly check-up was approaching. Once bitten........

Useless fact: I found I could insert a roll of A1 or B1 sized architectural drawings under the seat via the boot!

More useful fact: Keep an eye on the hoses where they join the waterpump on the side of the engine. Piaggio use rubbish crimp on hose clamps that always leak eventually, a proper screw up hose clamp is the fix.
