    The 150cc $12K scooter!

Just doing my daily check of the Scooter Community website. There is an add at the top of the page for a Vespa 946 priced at AUD11,990!

That's nearly 2.5 times the price of my Honda NSS300 Forza.

Now I'd be amongst the first to say how nice the 946 looks, real Italian style! But at the end of the day, its still only a 150cc scooter for a similar price to a Suzuki 650 Burgman or a BMW 650.

Has Piagio/Vespa just gone too far in gouging prices for the iconic Vespa range?

    Regards,
    Peter

The dealer at the end of my street has a black 125cc version that has been on the plinth so long that the tyres would have fused to the stand. It has a similar price tag. Serious devotion to a marque.

And correct me if I'm wrong, wasn't the original 125 a little more than that??

Asps, keen to know what they're asking for that 125 near U.

I'll check the swing ticket on the 125cc at Cylecraft when I next pass. The showroom, part courtesy of the distributer, has had a cosmetic make-over. It looks good; really good. I see Cyclecraft have also upgraded their web page offering renovation sale pricing. Not know (to me) for their compedative pricing, there are three offerings that I am interested to see how long they take to shift: the black B 125, a red GTS 150 and the litlle white Sprint 150 that I looked at 18 months ago with view to purchasing. But I have a sense though, that Angelo would provide good mechanical service skills.

    yes Asps,

i think his work shop could be good....the guy's been there long enough.. yep , it would be interesting to know what the price is on the 125.

Ya'd have thought that a nice 150 sprint in white would have gone before now....any easy sell over the Bondi summer, one would think.

Yet to go there since the renos....he does flog piaggio flys + bevs too?

Yes Pyr, that 's the sort of $$$ i recall....and now U can buy the bigger 150 for 2 grand less! I must admit, they do look good but underseat storage would be nice.

You could keep your free book in there.

Yep, Angelo seemed to have a reasonable sales summer moving stock. Only the 125 B, which goes back forever, and the little white Sprint have stuck. The red GTS 150 has not been on the floor that long, but I am interested to see how long it takes to shift. With additional local Vespa competion with Racecourse Motors now a Vespa stockist, and the price aggressive Scooteria who want to hold their No 1 Vespa ranking, Angelo might need to adjust his program. Racecorce Motors have shifted a few Vespa units since aquiring the franchise.

Anyway, the more out the door the better it is for the scootering community generally.

    AH!!!! Sorry!!!!

I missed the free book offer! That's a whole different story. WinkEmbarrassedZip it!

Really, when I retired back in 2001 I bought myself a new Vespa ET something or other which was a 150cc scooter. The price from memory was around $4,000 and that was too bloody expensive for a 150cc scooter (but it was a Vespa I told myself Huh?Sad

    Re: The 150cc $12K scooter!

Hey MD ... I ventured into Cyclecraft on a walk to the Junction today to establish a verbal price for the black 125cc Bellissima held on the showroom floor. $13k came the answer. So, the question is not what you would do with an underpowered $13k scooter with no onboard storage, but what you would do with the $10 change you would get from the $13k. I know this model to be $12990, and it was simply rounded up. You could buy a pair of socks, or maybe you could get 10 gumballs from a gumball dispensing machine. Do they still have those things around?

On the lateral thinking side, this scooter presents as a great sales tool. So why would you speed $13k on an underpowered (his words not mine) 125cc when you could have a new Vespa 150cc Prim. for nearly have that price. The 150 then sounds seductively cheap. What colour?
