Mean looking machine in the metal, it looks the business. No getting away with, 'sorry officer I didn't realize that it wouldn't comply - now see if you can catch me'.

I witness some serious e bike kit out there. The home tech nerds are building for themselves some fairly serious units, with mixed components being sourced on-line. The new standard for production e-bikes has become the mid drive. There might be some deliberacy with this to beat the nerds at their own game.

Yes Asps, they don't really look like a Hippie Greenie  Bike. The lightning bolt on the top of the tank and the fire engine red colour pretty well take care of that.

They don't look all that legal

It is no surprise to me personally that the little Suzuki Address and Honda Dio are enjoying sales success (in their class). If you are new to this mode of transport, dipping in your big toe, it is possible that you would trust big brand names with on ongoing presence in Australia. Names like Sym and Kymco might not resonate. Add to that modern styling, mostly latest technology (fuel injection) and those fantastic 14" wheels on something that weights only 100 kg, what's not to encourage a purchase - 'mummy, I didn't buy a motorbike I purchased a scooter'. All good then.

I find it difficult sometimes to reconcile the scooters posted as leading the way in sales against what is seen. Yes, there are the usual suspects being the Suzuki Address, Honda PCX and Vespa units, but I see a bucket load of Sym Orbit11s on the road, by way of example - and they never rate a mention.
