    BeeWee oil light problem!

    Hey all!

My brand new BeeWee's oil light either doesn't turn on at all, or flicks on and off really quickly (about 1/10 of a second). When the ignition is switched on the light is meant to stay on until I start the engine.

Any ideas before I contact the place I bought it from? It is just a hassle getting the scooter back to where I bought it!

Unfortunately my battery charger is too powerful for the little bike battery (which is 4ah) so I can't just charge up the battery to see whether that is going flat.

    Cheers,
    Anthony.

Like a car, I have found mind might sometimes come on when I turn the ignition on, but its just kicking in kind of thing!  Also I find I top up my oil about every 4 tanks, and it should take almost a full one litre bottle.  I have been told every 4 tanks is almost spot on for consumption.  Maybe give it a top up, and see how you go.  personally I wouldn't be concerned

Hmm yeah I was thinking pretty similar...

I gave it a top up tonight after doing my first 10km's and am tossing up whether to ride to work tomorrow or not. I think we now have a "yes"!

I might give the dealer a call and see what they say too :)

Hooray, it was user error all along!

I didn't realise that the key wouldn't actually "click and stop" on the ignition bit. If I hold the key halfway between on and off then the light comes on as it is meant to!

    ...stupid question over! :D

No need to reply then, but I had the same with mine. Good to see another BeeWee on the forum, Dak doesn;t talk to me since I sold mine last week! What's your colour?

    Re: BeeWee oil light problem!

That condition is OK, the Oil on a two stroke it is a really, really critical issue, Then when you move the key from OFF to ON there is a circuit that delivers power to the oil bulb, just to check that the light is working properly, that is, not burned. If you stay in the way between OFF and ON the light will stay on. This light shoul come ON when you are about to run out of oil. Imagine the following scenario, you run out of oil and the oil bulb is burned, you will not realize about the oil lack until is too late and the engine is dead. In a four stroke engine, the Oil light is to check the lack of oil pressure, in the other hand, on a two stroke engine the OIL lamp is to check the oil level in your tank. Different ways to lube. Cheers Mauricio
