    sub $2k 50?

Hi all, I'm looking at a 50cc scoot to get to work and back (10km ea direction, mainly flat roads)

I'd like to spend under $2k, and I'm thinking:

Piaggio Zip 50, Yamaha CV50, Bolwell Jolie, ....

I'd like some opinions on what would be ideal for me. I realise the Zip is a little underpowered (4-stroke)... Does anyone have any experience with the Yamaha CV50? There's a yamaha dealer right inbetween home and work who have them in stock for $1995. There's also a Bolwell dealer not far from my work.

    Opinions and recommendations are welcome!

I had a CY50 Jog up till last year.  Had it about 3 years with just over $25,000kms on it when I got rid of it for the Bee Wee.  Was starting to have dramas, but that's becauseI rode it very hard, and it was tme for some bigger work.  Apart from that, it was goo, reliable, and I loved it

Sound's like your experience Dakoda, just backs up the Jog's excellent reputation.  I've never heard anything but praise about how reliable they are.

No doubt the other scooters are also quite good choices and I've not heard bad reports about them,  but the Jog seems to have an excellent reputation.

They are Yamaha so how can you go wrong?  It wa sin the end I was starting to have dramas, but thats because I treated it rough, and it needed an overhaul.  It took my punishing damm well.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll go check out the Yamaha, perhaps they will let me test ride it :) I'll be checking out the things that will be important to me like is it easy to fill (fuel), large storage space (helmet, or whatever), shopping bag hook? front compartment or shelf? decent instrument cluster

Test ride all, and you will find that some are more comfortable than others.  test riding is very important

The Jolie is also a great ride and worth a look.

Other scooters to consider in this price range (and 2-stroke) are:

    TGB 101S
    TGB 203
    Bug Vibe
Bug Jive (there are still a few new ones floating around)
    Vmoto Monza
    Vmoto Milan

There is a big increase in choice if you step up a couple of hundered dollars too.

    Current ride: Yamaha XT660Z Tenere.
Gone: Piaggio MP3 400ie, too unreliable in the rain (think Italian electrics).

We loved the old Jog, the new one has a different derestriction setup & is very expensive to derestrict.

You definitely need to try them for size.  With your journey, you can consider both 4-strokes and 2-strokes, but you'll often find that at the less expensive end of the market, a lot of the scooters are fairly diminuitive.   At the present time, I don't think that you can beat the Piaggio Zip 50 for value (ie $1490 plus ORC) - but then, I'm biased cos its currently our top-seller.
