    Scooter HQ:
Scooter HQ won't be there this weekend but maybe some of the "Fanboi's" might turn up.

Sorry guys, I haven't been frequenting this forum much for a while...

What the?  What happened to "ScooterHQ, Shell Advance Oils, Scootersales, Vmoto & Motorcycle Sportsmen"?  Has all that gone into the crapper now?

Sadly this Fanboi won't be there this weekend - I won't be racing, and as I have an important engagement with my children I can't even come and spectate...

To all who will be racing:  go you funky monkeys!

Not at all, some just won't acknowledge the sponsors. Might be able to do the next one, we worked with the sporties to have something for the scooter riders not just ourselves.

Wow !   What can I say???  A fantastic day our for us all.

Jason on his Typhoon going round like he's on rails, off into the distance chasing the Superlites & Monolite Road Racer-type bikes (100cc 2-stroke?)...... &  giving them a real good run for their money.  in the final race he snapped out his rear end at the exit of turn 3 which saw his bike flying through the air & thumping the bars to a unridable state.  Jason's unscathed thankfully.

Paul was on his Italjet Dragster.  It's the space frame type 190 single piston 2-stroke. (correct me if I'm wrong)  He had bucket loads of accelleration & speed, but no brakes.....well he did had brakes present, but they were fading out BIG TIME.

Shelley on her new ride: the Monza 50cc which gave Shel a "lighter" ride to acquaint herself with as she's got tendonitis in the hands & arms.  Bigger front braking ability & easier cornering than the Bandit.

Craig K-Star & I on the Bandits that were slightly faster than before with lighter variator weights.  I had a "new ride" to acquaint myself with, in that, the bike's geometry was "all new" with a lowered front & rear that had me scraping the exhaust at times.  I'd no idea how I'd fair with my tyres compared to Craig's Savas.

Craig was chomping at my ass every seccond of every lap of every race.  No room for the slightest of Boo Boos.  Hell, we really had a race!    Paul & I were swapping spots for a while....seriously, Paul, get yourself some Malossi pads.....they laugh at whatever you throw at them: the hotter the better.  Paul later rode his back up bike, the Bug 50 as the Italjet was getting un-ridable.

With the race commentry, alot of serious 2-stroke smoke & noise going on, slick racing from all competitors: it was a real Day At The Races.  Razzamatazz Central

HUGE THUMBS UP TO THE ORGANISERS & ALL INVOLVED.

    1st Grid Start

Well, now that I'm composed..... WhooooooWeeeeee!!!

Had to save it all up till after I'd been to work this morning.  Now let's see.  Well, what A day.  Awesome experience having to come out onto the grid and do a proper start just like MotoGP.....Yiiiiihaa

We had the "buckets" with us a, Moriwaki 80 that really flew. I think it was the one that gave Jason the most trouble. The older H100 was tangling with jason a lot but Jase was able to pull away eventually. But the 1st time we hit the corner leading onto the back straight and kapow!!  Away goes the "back to front" Italjet" 180 racing up past Rob.  The first 2 races I was still experimenting/fiddling/just having fun. Then the 3 rd one things started getting serious, I rode the wheels off the bandit, Right up Rob's clacker.  I think I may have to been able stay ahead of if I got there but the Bandit didn't want to get off the line as quick as Rob and Paul (whilst he still had the italjet.) and had to trail Rob in to the first set of corners and hopefully stay in his draft down the back straight. But his bandit maybe a little differently "geared" plus being 9-10 kilos lighter he'd very slowy pull away and the only way I could stay with him was to get through every corner quicker than him. And to do that corner after corner was to try and brake later and get on the gas earlier. And I think Rob could hear that and suddenly he'd find me up beside me but not level but he wasn't giving an inch.  Got on the gas way early in the the left hander which takes you round into the start of the double left hander into the flipflop but woah, here comes the grass.... Yep I ran off still on the herbs......Gotta get it up right before I can brake. There;s no way I'm putting this down.  That's Jason job.  I had my heart in my mouth as I shot across the corner trying to rein in the bandit, hoping I could get it slowed before.....meeeyowww...There's go Rob and suddenly I'm back on the track.  Thank goodness, I didn't T-Bone him..... But no time to rest, Rob's not going to slow and check if I'm ok.   THIS AIN'T A TRACK NIGHT!!!!!!   YeeeeHaaaa!!! Suddenly I larfing my head off as I set off after Rob.

The last race was on, the yellow bandit still not getting off the line but it was the best start I did of the round and was level with Rob into the 1st corner (the sweeper) but that put me on the outside into the next one and behind him onto the straight and I tucked down as far as possible to stay in his draft and could just keep with him.  Then it was on.  Every corner I was biting Rob on the Bum, just looking for an opportunity. But before racing Rob and I both agreed we'd race safe and someone got up beside the other (on the inside of course) they'd receive the room to go through without having the other person turn in on them BUT  to be fair they had to be level. and a couple of times I got up beside Rob but was still not level and I larfed everytime Rob shut the door on me.  It's going to take something special from me or for Rob to stuffup for me to get by him and wacko there he goes.  I couldn't believe how fast we were getting through the sweeper that takes it round to the pits, and a couple of times I could hear Rob back off the throttle just slightly and I was still on the gas and then into the tight left hander ROB RAN WIDE so I got up the inside but was on the outside into the next corner onto the Start/Finish straight. And a neck and neck drag took place down the into the sweeper. But Rob just manages to pull away slightly again.

Now if this isn't incentive to try and loose 10 kilos before the next round....... Hoooweeee!!!!

But What a day!!!!!!  Thanks to Rob n Shell again for the ride. Team Morrell gives 'em Hell!!!  2 Firsts and a third!!! We Rock!!!

Bring on the next round!!!! 8th March My birthday!!!!! Here's some photos!!!!The sweeper!!!Team MorrellPaul & Jason's Scoots

Top marks for your shirt you got made up K-Star.  Really looked the part.

The Bandits have always been a bit different in performance throughout their lives.  The yellow one has always seemed a bit tame with the take-off yet would have more top speed.....don't know why...anyone got any ideas?  I hope we can do a Track Night together sometime, & try eachothers bikes against eachother.  I'd like you to try the new suspension set-up....it's a totally different ride, now.

You certainly gave your tyres a good workout.

Did you see in the program about the Track Nights?......1st Monday & 2nd Saturday night of each month.

    Thanks again for your company.

Hey that would be cool Rob!!!! Just remember I'm 9-10 kilos heavier.....LOL!!!  I'd like to bring the Agility out with some Savas on it and the roller weights changed to Jtyphoon's recipe If I can get that done before hand though.  I'd like to aim for the Next Series starting december to get the Agility ready for then.

Did I mention or did the scrutineer chappy tell you about lockwiring the front caliper bolts?  Going to look over the Agility for all this stuff soon...

Rob, re: your jacket in regards to venting. I'll try and bring out my Joe Rocket for you to try. It's great venting, so much so that you can feel it go right round to your back. How does your jacket attach to your pants?  When the Joe Rocket is on, you have to zip it you have to from right to left when it's on. But I'll have to change that to match my leather panties... But let me know in case you might like to try it.

JTYPHOON!!!!!!! AWESOME racing, Hope you and the typhoon are ok after the big off.

ROB, in regards to the the take off of the yellow bandit, would different (heavier???) clutch springs make a difference????

Hey Folks Just the results of the 3rd rnd (our 1st) of Scooter racing.

    51-250 Class

    Rob's leading on 105 points

Jason on 100 (A DNF will do that)

    Me on 90

    and Paul on 88

Now Michelle with all maximum points for her class puts her on 125points. 1st!!!!!

So some pretty close competition and we'll look forward to what the last 2 rounds will bring.

Re: Scooter racing - The Motorcycle sportsmen - Kart track Willowbank 9th Feb

Even whn they were 50's mine always had giddyup lurch & take off about it, yet Shel's would soon be there & overtaking, but it just didn't have that lurch.   It's  the same characteristic now.

Maybe rider weight might make a difference, & our Track Night will sort this out.   The tyrew of racing does warrant a screaming clutch take off.

If you bring your Agility to the Track Night I can bring a bunch of rollers for you to experiment with.   Think I've got 13w x 16dia with a range of weights from 4g to 8g...maybe more.

Yeah, the scrutineer did say about that.   Not quite sure how to go about it.  Everything's Loctite thread locked anyways, but they can't see that.

The Joe Rocket jacket sounds interesting.   The RJays are secured by a loop & clip.....not the worlds best which is why we stitched-in some wide velco to help.  I guess the go would be to get some chunky zipper stitched in professionally by that bloke Paul spoke of.   I'll be wanting to go there to checkout some leathers in search for a cooler & safer ride.

Soaking by clothes in water helped me heaps, & by the end of the day my body seemed to settle down & I was coping well.....or was it getting less hot out there?

    Big Smile
