How can I get through six weeks without riding my scooter?

After my accident on Sunday, I'm on crutches for six weeks.

Any tips on how to stay sane?

I've been looking at people riding scooters on youtube...and it helps a little...living out my dreams through them!!!!

Keep telling yourself - If I get back on too soon & do something stupid I will be off the scooter for a lot longer.

Now write that down 100 times so you don't forget it.Wink

    Hope time flies for you.

sorry to hear about your accident cola, but if some good can come of this and we all take it a bit easy from now on hopefully we can avoid things like this in the future.

one of my friends said to me a while back that it must be relaxing riding my scoot, maybe it is sometimes but pretty much i`m on full alert when riding my beewee.

wet roads, white lines and reflectors make me tense, and i`ve found that apart from pot holes and bumps (usually at intersections) my biggest worry is coming up on cars in a separate lane.

when cars are passing you they have usually seen you, but when you come up on them it seems to be a suprise.

there`s bike games on playstation, but i haven`t seen scooter versions. good luck staying sane!!

Consider it a longer than usual pit stop. Take it apart and reassemble . Clean and stroke it. Steam clean the engine and buff the mags.

    They're all great suggestions....

Yeah know how you feel Dakoda, I took the Honda into ScooterHQ to have new fork seals done mid morning and am waiting to get a call from them so I can pick it up. I had Conti twists front and back put on the other week and would love to go for a run today down to Byron Bay to run them in. Very impressed by the new rubber, might get some on the Mighty Mio.

Take the time to plan and research any additions or alterations you may have been planning for the scoot.

Remember to take care as you don't want 6 weeks to turn into anything more.

Re: How can I get through six weeks without riding my scooter?

First of all, my sympathies for your predicament.  When I had a forced lay up of 12 weeks I got every scooter mag from the local library and slowly read through each one two or three times.  I was amazed that I even read each advertisement.  I also got out every motor scooter and motor bike book: Training guides, Maintenance guides, Customizing and Touring hints.  I also  read Peter Moore's two books on traveling through Italy on Vespas and when I could go online looked at as many pictures of scoots and bikes I could and played games like, "If I could buy whatever scooter I wanted, what would it be in: 50cc, 100cc ....

And for the final  fix I'd hobble out to the carport to wash and polish the scoot as well as start her up once a week.

Actually all of this sounds a little weird when I commit it to print, but that's how I managed to keep my sanity ... or did I  Wink
