Re: Sydney "Coz We Can" - April 7: A DAY AT THE TRACK

Eccles and I went out in the fog to the BMW RRExperience track day at Eastern Creek or the SMSP last Tuesday. We took the Beemas and had an absolute blast around this highly addictive circuit. Had six sessions, one of them on the BMW R1000R. Wow this was fun, its an amazing experience on the track coz you get to refine your riding each lap, plus you can really open the bike up down the straight, theres no way you can ride over 180k/h (220 in Eccles' case) anywhere around our roads. The f800r just loved the twisty parts of the circuit, and I spent a fair amount of time scraping my boots on the tarmac. I would have really loved to see Eccles do the circuit on his C650GT scooter. Just got some pics back from the track photographer today. I reckon we should get a track bike and do this more often.

I suppose its not bad for an old bloke , but you need to get those knees closer to the tarmac & get the speed up a bit , around 260-280kph would be ideal , ah what it would be like to be 27 years old /flexible & no sense of fear hey Big Smile

The old bloke was like a teenager around the race track....and he survived. if you've never tried it its a highly addictive big grin and somewhat indulgent way to spend a day,  perfect birthday present material.

Ben has tried his best to coax me to give it a go , has even offered me his Aprilla 1000 to use , na think i'll watch ๐Ÿ˜€, actually been looking into historic touring cars , a nice LJ XU1 would be ideal or maybe i'll set up an 02-04 Cooper S as a track car , we'll see ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜

Brad, I'm always amused riding with Pete. He'll spend all day bringing up the rear of the pack, and just when I'm thinking "is he ok, seems a bit of a slow day" BLAM! He's off, and I can't keep up. When he's on, he's on.

Eccles and I are thinking about a run up Bells line of road to mt Victoria leaving bp Lanecove at 8.30am. I have to go to the lower mountains for a lunch, where Eccles ends up is anyone's guess.

Our "crew"--- dont you mean our "gang"--" The Central Coast Angels" ---didnt you notice all the devestation along George Downes drive.  Yes we were there and I expect you were lazing about under the Pine Trees at the Outdoor Coffee Shoppe with a cardboard cup in your hand---  We were heading off down  to the General Store at Yarramalong where they serve good coffee in proper cups but sadly it was closed due to lack of power. You could have joined us if you were on a scooter

Re: Sydney "Coz We Can" - A Swarm of Maxi's

t looks like Coz We Can is returning from the dark side and going maxi. With Eccles on his series of BMW C Series 650's, me trading phatVespa for a Gillera Nexus 500, then White Fang bags himself a new Yamaha TMax 530. Now the Priest sells his Gixa sportsbike and has bought a 2012 Burgman 650. If we had someone turn up with an Aprilia SVR 850 (Jax?) then we'd have all bases covered. With a German,an Italian and two Japs just dont mention the war!

These maxis are great on the open road, they accelerate up hills, can overtake quickly, fast off from the lights, reasonable to excellent suspension and brakes... and they handle very well when ridden hard. Top speed 160 plus k/h. When you see the ease that Eccles blows off sports bikes it becomes clear that they're performance machines in sheeps clothing. Im sure there'll be some interesting "comparison tests" on future rides.
