    vespa 250 gts drive belt

hey guys, what is the considered km to replace the drive belt on the gts,i know vespa says 15000km but i presume some of you out there have machines that have got a few kms on them by now,any experienced opinions on this?,also has anyone done a belt change themself--do i need vespa special tools etc or just normal hand tools?--i am a mechanic by trade

Red ones always go faster but blue ones go pretty quick , but now blue ones are the way to go😄

On my old GT200 & GTS250, I could safely get 20,000km out of a belt, with my first GT300 I needed to replace the belt at 11,000km.

But I'd used my first GT300 for a lot of crushed rock roads in Europe that took their toll on tyres and the scooter generally, can you imagine roads so bad that I wore away the bottom edge of the front wheel mudguard !

I'd guess that the frequency of replacement you need will depend on how you ride and under what conditions. EG using the engine rather than the brake to hold it on a hill will prob mean earlier belt (and other transmission parts) replacement.

OK , It is great to see you back mate and you sound like youve had quite a bit of experience on the 300 through Europe. Its a very solid machine and I rate it right up with the best of them.

With belts you could get more out of it for sure but I think it will be in the vespa service schedule to be completed so you would need to tell your service agent not to do the job. Tolls required are liitle more then a rattle gun and some additional tools to take the covers off but a rattle gun I reckon is a must.
