Re: Improve your scooter with Dr. Pulley products.

Thanks for the information, I was talking to a mate with a new Yamaha Magesty 500 who was looking at engine mods to get better response when cruising.

I metioned that I had tuned my BWS transmission with lighter weights and felt that engine mods were dodgy, especially on his big scooter.

Now I have a better idea of how to improve his scooter without the risk of stuffing up a good engine.

I understand transmission tuning having done a previous 50cc Yamaha and the 100cc BWS.  I would like more options than just the 12gram weights but at least I know where to start.

I have a full set of weights for the little scooters and find changing to lighter weights and upping revs is valuable.  Changing the counter spring is also an option on the smaller scooters.

For anyone changing weights and using a set of different weights, the best performance is achieved when the variator hits the high ratio just below top speed.  If you want lower revs at cruise put a torque driver in which drops the engine revs when cruising at medium speeds.

Does anyone know whether the Yamaha Magesty 500 has a torque driver or whether you can buy a torque driver for them?

Can you buy a roller weight set fot the 500?

    niks:

Top speed actually increased I got to 120klm/h with ease and still could have accelerated faster but with gusting winds i chickened out (my pacemaker couldn't handle it lol joking.)

The Majesty 400 should get up to at least 160km/h stock, on the majestyusa site many people seem to have done 100mph

Wow! Talk about thread bump! :D

You can find it on ebay if you know the size of your existing rollers and what weight you want. That's where I bought mine.

For my PCX, the only thing I've noticed is that it revs harder (no tacho) and according to the bum-o-meter, honestly, I couldn't say it turned my world on fire. Then again, it is a 125 so I can't expect it to become a Burgman all of a sudden but for $30-40 shipped, it is what it is.

After 50,000km, I'll be replacing the old sliders with new ones at the 60,000km service. The transformation in both rides have made the sliders a great investment.
