Get a BeeWee then when you want a little bit more out of it you can spend ~ $600 on a cylinder kit and a pipe and get a bigger smile.

    Re: Upgrading Scooter?

On a flat road with no wind, I can do 83 on the zip 100. If i het a head wind.. it goes down to about 55-65.
All i want is a scoot that can do at least 85 in a head wind, or going up a simple slope.
    Dazzer:

Just curious whats the speed like on the 100cc zip ?

As the 50cc version tops at 65~69ks down hill Embarrassed and 60~65 on the flat.

67 if I have eaten baked beans Wink  IE. a tail wind !

and 45ks into a head wind Angry  (thats a killer in brisbane traffic) I think a push bike rider passed me last week going faster the the scoot was

Maybe... the Mojito 125 looks nice.

A 125 in the Aprilia and daelim range will get you to speeds of 110 and a bit more.  I get 110 out of my Aprilia Sportcity 125.  That is flat out, on the motorway and with wind.  You could possibly go a cheaper way, and look at some small mods, you might get that bit more.

I owned a BeeWee before the Aprilia, I loved it, but I can't go back.. small wheels, hard seat.

In regards to the Mojito, I dont believe you will gain much, but I could be mistaken.

I know it is wrong but I like the fact that the BeeWee's look polarises people. Means that the masses stay away and the great BeeWee remains relatively undiscovered.

Of course looks are important in the selection process but for me a lot less important than the ride.

I am biased in favour of 2T but based on what reviews I've read, there are not many 4T 125s that beat the BeeWee as a package. Maybe the SYM VS125 or one of the Aprilias? If you are going to have a scoot with a displacement less than or equal to 125cc then you really want a motor with a bit of personality and punch... That is where the BeeWee wins. Have you ridden one?

Finally, as I said, if you want more out of a 4T then you probably need to trade up. With the BeeWee you can get a new lease on life for well under $1k.

As I said I owned a BeeWee till Sept last year.  And even a kitted one will still struggle to do what my stock Sportcity does

    Re: Upgrading Scooter?

Have you been to Mitchell & Phillip scooter stores? I'm guessing you bought your Zip in Phillip. They didn't have anything else you liked? Admittedly, he often doesn't have scooters on the floor that he actually sells (ie Daelim & many of the Syms).

Otherwise, CMC in Mitchell often have the Cygnus on display, CMC at Fyshwick often have the new Yamahas (including the Bee Wee) on display as well as some 2nd-hand scoots. Next door to them is the Honda dealer, they have both the @125 & the SHi 150 on display & Joe's around the corner often have 2nd-hand scoots or they can get Yamahas in for you, if you don't want to deal with CMC.

There are a couple of places in Queanbeyan that sell scooters, I know people who bought their Burgmann's at Dahlitz, but they are huge maxi scoots, I think he also sells other brands or there's EuroTune, both of whom advertise on bikesales.com.au

I'm planning to go to the Practice Session out at Stay Upright this Sat (from 9am), but will be free afterwards, if you want some company cruising the stores. I can't see me wanting to be there more than an hour, but depends on the weather, the number of ppl there & the benefit I think I'm getting. All of the bike stores in Fyshwick are open til 3pm, as are the scooter stores. Not sure about the QBN stores... Send me a PM if you're interested. Cheers, PP

    I have an idea.

I found out (like many probably know) that in europe there is a Zip 125.

Does that mean I can buy a zip 125 engine and just put it in my Zip 100?

    Re: Upgrading Scooter?

The last mention i have found of a 125cc zip is from 2003 . But they now make the fly with 50cc 100cc 125cc 150cc engines so there is a good chance of fitting a bigger engine to the zip . I would try the European forums as there is more chance of it being done over there . Other wise you will need to get under a fly and zip to do some measuring
