    Re: New iPod Touch

    Well spotted mttttt,

I have a macbook, 2 gig ram 2ghz model that is my muck about computer (take it home and work), I have a mac pro with Two 3GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeons with 4 gig ram at work, with a nice big 30 inch apple studio display. I must say, it gets the job done.

Anyway, I sold my 30 gig ipod video the day before the release of the touch for $380, as I had the finger on the pulse for the upgrade, and then ordered the 16 gig touch.

Macs are the best, but somehow, Safari realy screws up the look of this site, so get firefox, and you'll view it better.

    Cheers fellow macuser.

Does 6 macs, 3 ipods, a token PC and a Yamaha Scooter make me the winner?

Pity my macs are G4 based, and only a Jog :(

Nothing wrong with G4's.  At least they are not made out of commodity hardware and be boring like PeeCees.

I wish apple had used Cell or G6's.  Far better, more efficient CPU's.  Maybe not cheaper, but I don't buy a Mac to be cheap.

I think thats got more to do with the chilling of the Apple-IBM relationship, plus how hot does a PS3 (cell chip) run!!

Back on topic, seems like everyone likes the touch, which is surprising given the amount of apple haters there are, esp given Zune 2.0 is now out ;)

    ...okay so I have a Yamaha and Mac's (MB & 17" MBP [work]), but I don't need to say I win...I know....! :)

i was thinking about the a new Nano, but saw the Touch and thought VERY NICE! Apple guy said the Touch is almost exactly the same dimensions as the iPhone, but the latter is thicker AND NOT currently 3G!

never mind other things ahead of a new iPod at this stage!

    Re: New iPod Touch

As a total geekhead I love the idea of the mac's, but I still have room in my heart (and the house somewhere!) for a PC (or 8 as it stands atm).  I'd love to go all apple, but the lack of games support gets to me, although that has distinctly improved in the current generation.  The fact that I've got around 2TB of storage on PC helps bias me towards Wintel/Lintel systems for a while yet.

One of these days if the 750gb hdd's come down to a more affordable level I might even be able to afford my dream building a 5+TB system.

To drag myself back on topic somewhat, I'm still partial to things like Iriver as my last one also had Ogg support in addition to the usual MP3/WMA support, let me store a crab load more stuff on it without any noticeable decrease in quality.

Just my thoughts, comments and opinions.

    Cheers :)

Did you know that all current models, the ones that run intel chips are dual bootable. You can set up bootcamp, partition the drive, and just boot while holding the option key, and then choose Windows or Mac OS. There is also software (parallels) that allows you to run both O.S's simultaniously in real time. Best of both worlds. My department runs 5 x G5 Dual 2.5Ghz machines, 2 macbooks, 1 macbook pro, 3 current iMacs, some old eMacs (4 of them) and about 6 old cooured G3 iMacs for the sales staff. I showed Allen through today on his way to the MotoGP, and he loved my 30 inch apple monitor.

Yes, I've been admiring the new C2D based Apple's for a while now, but cost is somewhat prohibitive to me atm, though if I could build a basic PC style system with the forthcoming 8800GT, 4gb DDR2, 6 or 7x 500gb or 750gb sata's and a good quality P35 or X38 based board and run OS X and Vista and XPPro and linux, then I'd be one hell of a happy camper!  That said, considering the above specs will run to around $5k +\- a bit, it's definitely in the dreams for a while yet.

You've got an Apple 30incher?  Damn, you've really really made me jealous, not to mention inadequate with my puny little 22inch Dell :(  :~(  lol   What sort of connection options do you have on that 30?

Just my thoughts, comments and opinions.

    Cheers :)
