Hi Bort, are you coming for the choccy run tomorrow? We are all meeting up around 9am - to leave at 9.30am, at the petrol station on the corner of Scarborough Beach Road and Charles Street. Hope to see you there! Will be fun!

Stuscat, hope you are coming too!

The reason I am asking for you'll to join, is that, the ride I went on with Wanda alongside the river helped me immensely with confidence, turns, handling and stability. I wish I had done the group ride BEFORE my test.

nope still no scoot so i can't make it, but i'll be getting it asap after i pass my test on wed!

just had a 90 minute lesson - i have my o-turns down now, and the emergency braking seems to be ok too. just wish i knew Joondalup better, i am completely clueless about the main roads and where they are in relation to each other, and i rode straight past the licensing centre twice on my lesson without even noticing.  oops :P  will have a drive around there in the car on monday to get a better feel for the roads and the area.  here's hopin.... just 1 hour-long lesson on wednesday morning then its test time...

Oh, I was hoping you came, cos it would really help you. Nevermind! Soon!

Good to hear you were practicing. Now just your test day lesson is left. You'll be fine. You've got the turns out of the way as well as the emergency braking. A few trips around Joondalup will be good, although, if you are confident, you shouldn't have to worry about the area. The examiner will give you directions which are short and clear. It makes no difference whether you know the area or not. Having said that, if you need any help please do not hesitate to ask. I know the area and yet I was on a street I had never been on before. Just be confident, relax, breathe and SMILE! Positive attitude helps.

nah you're right - doesn't really matter about the area. it was more my fried short term memory trying to remember instructions and i kept screwing it up. Big Smile still, nice to know whats comin up.  'sall good.

it'll be fine - i'm pretty confident actually, i nailed it today except a few small things and i knew i'd screwed those up as soon as i did them, so they weren't blind mistakes. also got to test out my new helmet .. bring on wednesday!

well, i royally f**ked that up. left my indicator on too long after pulling out AT THE START of the test - instant fail. i called to rebook, nothing at joondalup for another 2 and a half months so i had to book for Morley, 29th April and hope for the best :( he still took me out to do the o-turns and braking and stuff and said that was all fine but that screwup at the start cost me my test :( so disheartening, such a stupid, stupid mistake which i have NEVER made before, and also especially when the test slots are so hard to get. anyway, fingers crossed for 2 weeks from now.

still gonna pay for the GP1 this Sat and hopefully be able to ride it home escorted sometime soon - i need something to keep my motivation up, took a major blow today! *grumble*

Bort! So sorry to hear it!! Unfortunately the stress of the test means that most WILL do things that they don't normally do, it happens all too often unfortunately!

Hey - Dont be so hard on yourself! - Indicators suck on scooters - and we all leave them on - my husband has been riding for more years than many of us have been born and he still is the worst one for blink blink blinking! I feel  sooooooo bad for you but pleased to see you getting back on the horse and getting the GP1 - dont let those b&&^%ds get you down - that test officer should have turned a blind eye to a few more seconds on the indicator. Plus I reckon they should give you a minute or so grace before they start the stopwatch on the test to get rid of those butterflies - its only natural,

You will slam dunk it next time I am sure! ..and we are all hangin in there with you! Big Smile

Proud owner of Vespa GTS250ie - Ferrari Red..or some colour like that :-) with a BMW cool bike on the side...and a custom built Repsol Honda PCX finishes the stable.

thanks for the kind words Big Smile not gonna let it get me down, as they say sh*t happens so gotta get back on there and try again. i'm stoked i got another test so soon, i couldn't believe it when she said the wait time in Joondalup was over 2 months... no way could i wait that long!

to be fair, he said normally he would have let it go but considering it was pretty much outside the licensing centre with other instructors around he couldn't let it slide, nor do i really expect him to. he was nice about it... haha, 5 seconds into the test! i can definitely laugh at that :) it's good he still took me out and gave me some (good) feedback about the rest of my riding though. glad ive got that under control for now... and man... a 1 min buffer at the start would be nice! but i guess that's why it's a test :(

It's amazing how variable people's experiences are, and what they can get away with, when doing the test. Scootabug & I both passed even though we both did things that by all rights should have failed us while people such as yourself do something like leaving the indicator on (dangerous enough but...) & fail because of it.

I had the other extreme.....I failed by doing an illegal move at the very end of my test, as you said, right outside the licensing center in front of all the assessors. Same deal as you....asssessor told me if it wernt for doing the illegal move (u-turn across continuos line) in front of the asessors outside the center, he would have let it slide :(

    Re: Failed R-N In Perth

well i called again and managed a slot in Joondalup, 2.10 on the 26th April. which is a sunday, but the lady at the DPI said they are doing some sunday assessments of late. which i found slighty...weird, but ok - it came up in the system and she's sending a confirmation letter. now to find someone who can accompany me up there :P

edit - i got paranoid and called again, she said there was a few bookings that day and that there was recently a thing sent out about part time people to do tests on weekends.. still, it seems very odd!!

    what to do...
