    Back wheel removal- Cygnus

    Hi All,

I am new to this forum and to scooters Smile

I havea 2006 cygnus 125 and I am wondering how on earth you remove the back wheel. I tried to undo the 24mm nut on the other side of the photo and it wouldn't budge. Do I have to remove that drum and variator thing?

How do I remove the wheel?

There is an extra degree of diffuclty as the scoot on up on 2 milk crates....

    Thanks

My Zuma which was similar took a 24mm socket with a half inch L bar and a 1000mm pipe to undo the nut.

We ended up backing the scooter into a stair, sitting a big guy on the scooter with the brake on and another big guy on the pipe and it took a lot of force.

Mechanics do them up with rattle guns and over tighten them and every other bolt they seem to touch.

I have a rattle gun but don't use it for tightening other than the crankshaft and clutch nuts.

Do I need to remove anything from the transmission side?

Is it simply a case of somehow removing the 24mm nut and the wheel will come out?

    thanks

On the Zuma and Bee Wee I took the exhaust off and then undid the 24mm nut.  It took some tapping with a rubber hammer on the shaft to free the wheel.

    Hi ciggie,

I have the exact same scoot, if you take further pics of your progress I would be interested to see. I guess changng a tyre on the side of the road is not on with this one eh Hmm.

I'd guess there should be a torque setting when you do it back up rather than just tightening till your eyes bulge. Smile

    Good luck
