    Wollongong area - training courses??

    Yes, me again. Tongue Tied

Can anyone recommend training centres down in the Wollongong area, please? Got my Ls a few weeks ago, but really think I'd benefit from more training. There seems to be a few training centres up Sydney way, but, let's face it, if I could ride to Sydney safely I probably wouldn't want the training!!! Happy to do a small group course, but one on one is my preferred thing.

    Ta Scooterians! Smile

What about the HART courses in St Ives? Reckon I could drive there and hire a scooter. Anyone heard good/bad about them?

There is a place that I have made enquries with called Wheel Skills at Nolan Street in Unanderra.

I haven't been there yet, but they seem to have a lot of options and can do scooter training as well as motorbike.

I'm planning on doing a 1 on 1 refresher course before I get my scooter (once i've saved up for my safety gear etc)

The email I got from them says $270 for 3 hours 1 on 1, which I thought seemed like an ok price.

http://www.wheel-skills.com.au/  They are behind the motor registry, and also offer L & P training.

They may be who you did your L's course with.

Yes, Clare they are the RTA accredited mob. OK but the course track is pretty limited. Price sounds good. I was looking for something a bit more... ummm... more than that. Like you, I used to ride some time ago (decades in my case). I'm not as infallible as i thought I was then. I'm old - I break easily. I wonder when they actually do the one on ones, as the area is used for training Ls and Ps 5 days a week. I have contacted them, but would like to see if anyone else has any experience before commiting the time and money.

If you're an Ulyssean you can claim $80 back from the association.

Please Wanda, get your facts straight. I'm minus 9999 years old, thanks. In fact I'm not yet born. But apparently when I do get born (?) it'll be a Sunday. Interesting thought really.

No Ulysses club excepts scooters to join you have to have a bike license & be over 40 . I thing the subsidy on training is for further training & not training to get a license

Re: Wollongong area - training courses??

many Ulysses members are non-riders (some physically can't others are pillions and or spouses) any advanced rider training is subsidised except for the learner training course. As for scooters we have around half a dozen in my club, myself included. In addition Liz could join the Ulittlies SIG which is Sydney based and conducts low speed runs.

sorry LIzzie, we all kinda hijacked your post.

I tried to give you some feedback, but got nothing to offer really.  Let me know how you go with HART.  I think that's where the scooter rally is being held.

OK, I gotta question, just exactly what kind of training are you after that maybe wasn't adequately covered in your L's course in enough depth?

You're as bad as me, you used to be so much better, that makes you worse.
