    Best selling scooters in Italy

    More interesting news from moto.it

Below is a list of the 100 best selling scooters in Italy for 2011 so far...some interesting results. Why aren't the Italians keen on the Piaggio X7300 Evo? I think, and have read, it is an amazing scooter. And where is the Piaggio Fly? I'm glad we will be getting the Piaggio Liberty soon though, it's supposed to be great, and it would seem the Italians agree!

Its in good company, with the Sportscity cube 300 and the Beaver 300. Yet they love the Honda Sh300 although the Honda is the best of the 300's IMO. Definitely the fastest.

Re: Best selling scooters in Italy

I guess that they like the big wheels for the cobblestones. What I dont get is why the huge difference with the Beverly 300i and the Beverly 300 tourer? And whats the difference with the models?

Yes, Downtown is in the top 10, with 5,085 sales! Those are mind-boggling numbers - how many decades would it take to sell 5 thousand Downtowns in Australia, I wonder?

Honda are still king, but they've slipped. For the last couple of years in a row, numbers 1,2 and 3 on that list were all Hondas SH in different capacities.

Edit - or let's put it this way: since the population of Italy at under 60 milion is a little bit over twice our size, if our market was anything like theirs we should be selling over 2,000 Downtowns a year. As well as 3,000 T-Maxes and 6,000 Hondas SH... but I think these three numbers alone would add up to more than the total sales of all scooters in Australia, wouldn't they?

From your article, total Australian sales were 10,433 scooters for that year. Granted, it was an especially bad year... but either way, we still have a long way to catch up with Italy :)
