hi all, i'm new to the scootering community and just bought my first last week. being on a student budget i bought a used 2005 bolwell arriba xs 150cc with about 12,000 kms on the clock for $1,300. i'd like to think i got a good deal but recently i've been having problems with the electric start. it often takes a few tries to get started and for the first few kms of a journey when slow down or come to a stop, the motor often cuts out. my first impression was that i might need a new spark plug or could it be something else? it this a common issue with this model? i'm planning to get it checked out later this week at a place called 'intyre motorcycles' or 'bike dock' in brunswick. anyone been there before and would recommend? thanks for help guys.
welcome silvo maybe auto choke on carburetor not working correctly ?
thanks but talking about coincidences i wrote that just after i finished work and left afterwards to go home and had an accident on my way thankfully i'm relatively ok just got home from the hospital now but yeah i think there's a lot more wrong with it now thx anyways
The main thing is you are OK bits of metal & plastic are more easily repaired/replaced than yourself
Glad you're okay. That's one coincidence I think I'd rather not have.
wombat: Glad you're okay. That's one coincidence I think I'd rather not have.
Yep i will second that don't want this to happen friend
thanks guys, yeah i'm glad too, just a bit of misfortune, luckily just a few nasty grazes and hopefully nothing else. true, i'll hear the verdict tomorrow i think but it looks reasonably ok if you ask me surprisingly, hardy she is it seems.
so just got her back recently and the mechanic (from mick hone motorcycles in mont albert; not who I'd have preferred to go to, but they're the closest so cost me the least to get it there) tells me he fully checked it over, and said it just needed a new rear brake lever (costing me $50 inc. labour, i suppose its reasonable) and that the patchy starting and occasional cutting out for the first km or so was just because a bit of cold weather and plus the handling still doesn't feel right as it once was might need to get a second opinion :/ anyone had dealings with mick hone before? or maybe I'm just being pedantic I dunno
