    vs 125 lights?

how often does the light relay fail on the vs 125?this will be my third relay or is it the light switch? some one said that switch on here is sub-standard.if it is the relay, then it will definatly be the last part to be replaced on it before dumping it.in the four years of owning it,i have replaced the accellerator cable, the drive belt, the regulator rectifier, the fuel pump, three light relays and two slippery maxis tyres.been handy, small car next i'm a thinkin' or push bike, emubob

Wow. You got a crook one. I've had mine 4 years, ridden it most days. Clocked over 25,000 K's so far. I agree that the Maxxis tyres are hopeless. Swapped to Pirelli SL26 and fixed that problem.

If you mean that the brake light doesn't come on when you pull the brake lever, that's probably the handlebar switch, rather than the relay.

All I've replaced is tyres. I've had it serviced by the book by the service agent in Bendigo (no dealer anymore). Had a few issues, all replaced under warranty (Rear wheel bearing and kick starter from memory). Never had a light relay let go, although 2 of the LED daylight running lights have stopped working in the last 3 months.

4 years and 20,000 K's later, I'm still scootering, and you guys are stuck with me!

when i start up,the lights come on ,but when i go to take off the lights fail and several flicking of the light switch seems to get the lights back on track, sometimes, sometimes on a lit up street this is not a problem but,no cops around i would continue, ever watchful for the fuzz.no fine is fine, emubob

If flicking the switch fixes the problem, I'd Blame the switch

I would try wombat's idea of a faulty switch first job Yes

You must have a different light setup to me, too. I don't have a switch to turn the lights off, or even on parkers. The workshop manual has one of those switches listed, though.

when i turn on the ignition the lights come on.the moment i hit the ignition, the lights flicker and go out.switching back and forth from low to high and back seems to bring the lights back on at a reduced strength, barely legal and gradually the lights come back to full strenght and remain so til i turn off the scooter at journeys end.starting up to go home starts the whole procedure again.emubob

Could be a bad earth somewhere so you are getting funny symptoms till it earths through the right path . Would be a matter of undoing all earths cleaning and replacing but honestly as got me stumped

So, without the engine running, everything's fine? The lights are a little bit dimmer than full power (The battery generally runs about 11-12 volts, and the alternator charges at 13-14 volts). Once the engine starts, so do the troubles?

Then it's not the light switch. Pull the seat bucket out and have a look at all the wiring joints. Start with the ones around the battery and the big ones that go near the engine. The fault sounds like it's in the "Charging" part of the wiring - battery, alternator etc.
