    2017 Scooter of the Year

I see Bikesales are to announce motorcycle of the year at the SMS at Darling Harbour Exibition Centre in November. There are also eleven categories of two wheel machines, which includes the mighty scooter, that will also have awarded first place, in their eyes, for this year. This is said to unfold over the comming months.

So who's for speculating what scooter will top the bunch? Interesting really.

For me it would be easier to pick the winner of the Melbourne Cup and I haven't done that in over 60 years.

Hmm, common sense would suggest something fairly recent that has solid sales like the latest Fly or the Suzi address.........my money is on the 150 Piaggio Medley

    Aspro Boy

    The obvious question is -

" What criteria is being used to assess an outright 2017 scooter deemed to be worthy of that title ?" - put forward by whom? and for what reason?

eg. Catagory ? Value for money ? Design ? Reliability ? Warranty backup etc...

Until any such title is shown to have been assessed on disclosed sound criteria the outcome will probably be another PR shot in the dark.

Absolutely agree with you Tony. A table of criteria, against each category, should be spelt out prior to any announcements.

I don't think the the GTS 150 could win simply on the fact that it has not been available in the market place for the required time. I dropped into Scooteria at Camperdown when passing today to witness good numbers of GTS 250s lined up for sale. You might think that the 250s would need to be cleared out (generally) before introducing the GTS 150, of which I have seen zero.

I went to the recent boat show twice at Darling Harbour for the reason (beyond once being a boating tragic) someone gave me two complimentary tickets. The point is that the show was huge as manufactures and distributors made up for years of dishevelled arrangements due to the construction of a replacement exibition centre. I am hoping the motorcycling and scooter industry follow this example and put up an exiting exibition this year.

It's bikesales - the winning scooter will come from the brand with the biggest advertising contract for next year. Would love to see it go to something innovative and unique, but it won't.

4 years and 20,000 K's later, I'm still scootering, and you guys are stuck with me!
