    honda ctx700d vs. nc700 vs. dn-01

Hi, I'm not sure where to post this, I'm in the market for a second-hand low mileage Honda automatic motorbike, up to about $8k and I'm trying to decide between the ctx700d, the nc700 (integra) and the dn-01. Can anyone tell me if there are any significant differences? which one should I buy? someone selling one? I am in Brisbane but may consider interstate if price is interesting (: thanks for any advicce

    Silvo..

Of the three the nc700 is the more conventional (but not outstanding)

However, there will be valid reasons why none of these bikes sold in large numbers.

None fit into the "popular" category and that means low prices, low demand, and limited availability.

    Cheers

Good luck finding a CTX700D, I've only seen 1 show up on Bikesales this year and it was gone within a couple of days.

There are always a couple of DN-01s on sale and they aren't too expensive, but it's a 10 year-old bike and the only thing to ever use that engine and transmission, so it could go bad if something breaks.

The Integra is probably the smart choice as they sold in higher numbers.  I rode on one when they came out and wasn't a fan of the seat height, but that will depend on how long your legs are.

What I'd love to find is the NC700S motorcycle which had more built-in storage than the Integra in a slimmer body, but I've never seen even one for sale anywhere in Australia :-(

It's crazy that the Aussie market can support a dozen Vespa clones, two dozen Harley clones and innumerable retro cafe racer knock-offs but nobody can make the business case work on something like the NC700S or Aprilia Mana.  It's like the less useful a bike is the better it sells...

So I got a dn-01 in the end mint condition only 6000 km a month ago, so lets hope nothing goes wrong anytime soon Stick out tongue so far so good, but I find the fuel economy a bit poor, other than that it goes well

I looked at an integra (nc700) but too much like a scooter for my liking

After all my complaining about not being able to find a CTX, I spotted one on Bikesales a couple of weeks ago and bought it the next day!

Dealer was in QLD so it took a while to get it trucked down to Sydney and re-registered for NSW, but now I'm ready to ride!

    CTX700D

I've only done a short ride to the mechanic and back for the rego inspection, but so far I love it.  It definitely feels bigger than the PCX, but still very nice to ride compared to the manual bikes I've tried.

I really can't fathom why they didn't sell better, although it probably didn't help that it was just 10cc over the learner-legal category.  At least I was lucky enough to find one!

Now I need to sell the PCX...

Congratulations. I do see the odd example around whilst cycling through the city and inner metro areas. That's some distance from your top of the short list Tricity 155 consideration. But it is a Honda, so I get it. In the meantime, whilst waiting to view and test ride the latest Foza 300 (or a GTS 300) i just went out and threw a curve ball in my two wheel life and purchased a new .......

2018 Honda Monkey 125 - Banana Yellow. Puppy love, this thing is gorgeous, has soul. It is intended to be a keeper, whilst I experiment with a few other rides

Yeah, it is pretty different to the Tricity, but more importantly both are different in some way to the average bike or scooter.  I love any kind of new and unusual gadgets so my shortlist tends to be more a wide circle around the edges of the mainstream than a tight cluster of similar models.

On the topic of oddball autos, I just spotted an Aprilia Mana on Bikesales: https://www.bikesales.com.au/bikes/details/2008-aprilia-mana-850/oag-ad-16420391/?cr=2&pso=2

Like the NC700 you get built-in storage and an automatic transmission (CVT this time) in a bike-like package with a big twin motor.  These tend to sell fast so be quick guys!
