    2018 Honda Monkey 125 - - Puppy Love

I take liberty, as did Scooterlab, to post about the new Honda Monkey 125 on a scooter forum site.

I can't explain myself as to why I moved hastily toward such a purchase, believing my motorbike days belonged to another life; I'm a scooter guy now I happily remind myself. But the ergonomics, the fit and finish, the overall quality, with the absense of much plastic, seemed to reach into my past. Without a test ride I can't deny that the evening prior to taking delivery I questioned my santity.

But I love this little bike, feel passionate about it. It is simple, pure riding pleasure. Just a small capable hobby bike I hope to keep this ride - maintaining it in original delivery format except for a small chrome rear rack available from Webike Japan.

Banana Yellow - wicked. Now who would have thought. Honda number 11. It sits alongside my red K1 750 (with much quality parts upgrades), a blue CB 400F (one sweet city ride - for that time), as the top three Honda bikes owned. What each of the bikes offered(s): personality - soul. It's hard to place a price on that.

@ 650ks: this is a joyful ride. When I have a spare 1 - 1.5 hrs I jump on the Monkey 125, which invariably puts a grin on my face. Just grass roots simplicity riding, with a splash a Honda quality tossed in to this playful mix.

    Honda Monkey 125 @ 12 months and 2.5k:

The truth be told that the night prior to taking delivery of a banana yellow Monkey I started to question my sanity; it's too small, how will I use this little bike, if much at all? Yellow?

But this has proved to be a fabulous little bike that has won me over. It is very useful for the general area in which I live - useful and fulfils the hobbist aspect of a longtime motorbike and scooter interest. The ergonomics and ride comfort have you forgetting that you are on a small motorcycle. The overall quality of this machine speaks to me and delivers pride of ownership.

The manual states that the break-in period is within the first 500klms, but the little 125 didn't become 'elastic' until about 1.8-1.9k klms. I see the odd used example for sale, usually with low kilometers, but you need to rack up a few thoughtful riding ks before you feel its heartbeat.

I enjoy owning and riding this little bike .....
