  • Re: Double D rings

I've bought the Echo quick release fitting and expect it soon from Amazon. The technique from Mike Holland has made a huge difference to my helmut use, especially at the petrol pump. The long line of cars waiting for me to get my helmut back on has stopped!!
  • Re: Double D rings

[quote user="Mike Holland"] Swampy, the double D rings are quick release. A little slow to do up  -  you push the strap through both rings and then push a loop back around the outer D ring and through trhe inner D ring. But to undo it you just pull the end to undo the loop and then pull the strap out of the rings. Just ...
  • Re: Double D rings

Thanks guys, I will keep the helmet because it suits the purpose for local riding. I was curious as I thought with a small market like ours, the manufacturers wouldn't be bothered changing a fitting just for us. It's a bit like car indicators, most don't comply with the design standards that used to be in force here. Or is my eyesight ...
  • Double D rings

I've just bought a new helmet and expected it to have a quick release strap as per the picture and website. It has the double D fitting and I'm wondering if I am missing something and the quick release strap is only available overseas. Is it a requirement for helmets to have the double D fitting in Oz, or is there a safety issue ...
  • Re: Piaggio Medley

Currently in Slovenia after a few weeks in Croatia and Italy. Scooter heaven! Have checked out plenty of Piaggio's and Vespas. Some beautiful Vespas well looked after by the owners by the look of them. The Beverly 150cc is very popular here and quite a few odd scooters as well. I guess I'll just have to save up or dream a bit more. ...
  • Re: Piaggio Medley

I' ve just turned over 2100k in 18 months from new. I just ride around the Macedon Ranges on the back roads. I have an aftermarket top box which is removeable but a pain to lock but I'm very happy with the Dio but like to look at all the alternatives. In a couple of years when I can take a pillion passenger I might move up to a 150cc or ...
  • Re: Piaggio Medley

Almost identical to my Honda Dio except the engine is bigger !!
  • Re: Honda Dio vs Suzuki Address

I have a Dio and am really happy with it. I normally just ride around the Macedon Ranges on back roads. It really doesn't have the performance to use on the freeways, but at 80-90Kph it suites me fine. It would struggle with a pillion passenger, but for me with a new license it is not going to be a problem for a few years, and then I might ...
  • Re: Battery charging

Thanks for the quick replies guys. My thoughts were similar but there doesn't seem to be enough room for an alternator anywhere. I can't imagine the charging system would be a radical change from what goes before over the last few decades. I'll do a google and see if I can track down a maintenance manual for a similar scooter series. ...
