  • Re: Scooters, are they a serious form of transport??

Are they a serious commuter?  Yes. My scoot is cheaper, easier, more agile and therefore faster in peak hour traffic than my 1000cc which has to be doing around 30-40 just to fully engage first gear, is less comfortable (for short trips), less visibility of whats around (due to forward riding position) and less useful mirrors. And when I get ...

  • Re: How do you pack to avoid bar wobble?

Bumpy / up hill / under power is the most likely time you're going to head headshake especially if you have all 3 + gear weighting the back. Weight your feet pushing down and crucially, maintain a very light grip on the bars. Holding tight makes you a part of the suspension and makes the wobble worse.

  • Re: Price to pay for Vespa's

$6000 used? Wow I dont know vespa prices but that seems alot. A mate just bought an 06 zx636 (sport) with less kms for 5500, I'd feel pretty ripped off with a scooter for that price.

  • Re: HONDA CB125e

Wow, thats awesome, so very cheap.   I'd have bought one of these in an instant over my scooter and now I'm tempted to sell it and buy one! 14 L tank, thats over 400kms range niiice.

  • Re: Touching down in the twisties

A few things.. If you're scraping, it means with your current riding style you have met the design limitations of the vehicle, so if you went into a corner scraping and midcorner needed to tighten your line to avoid an obstacle, you'd tripod and lowslide if you just turned tighter.   A few things to give you free ground clearance ...

  • Re: Fuel Stops Albury to Sydney on Hume Hwy

Sitting on 80-90 on a 125cc on the freeway, with traffic going 30-40+kmh past you is a bad idea. I'd strongly recommend taking b roads. I've done syd-mel via hume in one day and its a really boring option, take the nice roads if you have time.

  • Re: Leo Vince or Akrapovic, is there much difference?

An exhaust that flows better can improve performance especially if matched with an aftermarket air filter and if the air/fuel ratio is tuned to match. (jets etc with carbys or changes to the fuel map on injected bikes)   But if you're just putting a slip on exhaust on, do not waste your money getting it rejetted/dynotuned unless it ...

  • Re: hairy-fairy cornering?

I have a vs125 too. The recommended is 25/32 I believe. But I generally run 30/32ish. Up to 14k kms and the suspension can't really cope with any mid corner road surface irregularities, it gets unsettled easily. It is noticeably less compliant than when new. For the first few hundred kms it seemed fine but quickly deteroriated over a short ...

  • Where to buy belt and rollers

Hey all. Does anyone know a decent place to buy belt and rollers for a sym vs125? Online O/S ideally. Or a physical store in syd?    Any how much can I expect to pay for this? Would it be worthwhile getting a variator kit at the same time for an improvement?   I'm going to install them myself although haven't done that ...

  • Re: vs125 rear shock setting

The manufacturers tyre pressure settings are about 25/32 I believe. I don't run them that low, more like 30/33. At 35 it will be a harsh ride, but doable in the dry with better tyre life - at the sacrifice of grip.
