• Re: What do you think of bluetooth in helmet?

Well I listen to Triple J every single day on my commute. Its not as distracting as you think. When something happens on the road, you tend to switch off the noise in your helmet and focus on the road. I cant say the same about when you are talking on the phone. I am not convinced talking on the phone on 2 wheels is ...

  • Re: scooter scorners
Today in traffic I passed a cbr1ooo on the motorway. I had watched him happily sitting behind cars putting along at 110 kph... until happy little me rolled past him in the fast lane, on of all things.... a scooter! The nerve of some people right? Well at that he kicked down a cog, promply changed lanes, ...

  • Re: Question about centrifugal forces and scooter wheels.

I would like to disagree with ferrix, centrifugal force is indeed a force as far as mechanics are concerned :P However I agree with the rest of his statement! A good bike has an aligned frame, good suspension, balanced wheels etc. Dont expect much from a bike built to a budget. The biggest problem I found with most scooters I have ridden, ...

  • Re: Time to get back on a scooter... What to buy?
I found out FROM my insurance company... I wanted to drive and ride whilst still on crutches and they organised the test for me. They indicated that IF I were in another accident, I would be blamed for not being FIT to ride and therefore void any insurance claim from the first accident and anything that might arise ...

  • Re: Time to get back on a scooter... What to buy?
If you are in NSW you need to get permission from the RTA or you will void your insurance. When I broke my leg I had to do a driving AND riding test - and even then they restricted my licence to "Auto Only"
Where did you find out about that? I have driven a couple of times, but can only do it ...

There is a majesty 250 on the gold coast for $3000. Hmmmm. Also a 250 burgman for the same price, but not sure where its at. Never ridden either...

  • Time to get back on a scooter... What to buy?

Had a trailbike accident on the weekend and shattered my tibial plateau and ruptured my ACL. I cant go the 3 months min without being on 2 wheels. Cant change gears, cause the damage is to my left leg. So I need a scoot again!! Requirements. Need to somehow fit a leg in that cant be bent. Need to carry crutches. Must be capable of 80kph with ...

  • Re: Either I'm getting old .......

I just did 3500km over 4 days on my triumph sprint a week ago. It was a walk in the park. Today I just got home from 3600km trip to Melbourne (from Brissie) in my car, and I can say it was much harder than the trip on the bike. Admittedly, I was towing a boat back from Melbourne, but it still seems a whole lot easier to tour on a bike ...
So having our headlights on doesn't help, because drivers just don't look? Sorry, I don't accept that. When I am driving in daytine, and I see headlights in my rear view mirror, I always check to see whether it is a motorcycle, because if so then it will soon be overtaking me. I notice a ...
Put it this way, I wear my long sleeves flouros and have flashing lights and cars still don't see me on my pushbike. It's just a simple case of not caring or inattention. If we were driving a tank, I think they'd somewhat care.
Nope, they actually dont see you. Its a fault in the human ...
